U.s. Supreme Court – Cleve Foster Remained in The Execution

Cleve Foster was scheduled to be executed tonight for the rape and murder of a Fort Worth woman in 2002.

For the second time in an exceedingly week, the U.S. Supreme Court has quickly stayed an execution in Texas.

Cleve Foster, a former Army recruiter, was scheduled to die this evening for the 2002 rape and murder of twenty eight year-old Nyanuer Pal, of Fort price. Foster’s co-defendant died in jail last year.

This is the third time the high court has halted Foster’s execution. Lawyers have argued he received ineffective counsel throughout his trial and earlier appeals.

“It all goes back to a claim that trial counsel did not raise problems relating to Cleve’s innocence, specifically knowledgeable proof that will have undermined the guts of the state’s case,” said Maurie Levin, Foster’s attorney.

Levin says the temporary keep comes because the Supreme Court prepares to listen to arguments in another case that raises queries almost like Foster’s.
