10 Inexpensive, Simple Ways to Take Care of Yourself

Having long working hours, getting tired of your scheduled working, or too busy to take care of yourself?

Friends, taking care of ourselves doesn’t mean spending long hours at gym, or wasting money on pricey health supplements. It basically means living a healthier and happier lifestyle. Don’t put your take-care on least priority. Remember, if you are happy and healthy then only all the pleasures of life and success come to your doorstep and then only you would be a better caretaker for others.

  1. Give some time to nurture yourself. Always have a day off in a week. Spend time with your family, your children, parents, and friends. Let your problems also to relax and let them solve themselves at least for a day.

    If you don’t have even that much of time, then at least try this. You can have 5-minute yoga therapy while in the midst of making important business deals. Close your eyes for five minutes and have a deep breath. Do it for five minutes after every hour. Believe me, it really works in relieving your stress and enhances your self-esteem.

  2. Get enough sleep. Ideally, we should sleep for 8 hours. But usually we sleep less. Of course we don’t have that much time to sleep.  A sound sleep is necessary for enthusiastic day. Sleepless nights lead to impaired mind and affect your productivity in day.

    If in spite of full efforts you are unable to get enough time to take full sleep, try yogo. It’s a technique of deep relaxation. 10-minute yogo  is equivalent to 1-hour sleep. If possible, you can have small naps in-between.

  3. Always have a balanced and nutritious diet. A poor diet leads to ill health and ill mind. Everybody knows that ‘sound body has sound mind’. But in our tiring schedule, it goes somewhere in back of our mind.

    Should not skip your meals, Drink abundance of water. It may decrease your pressure level. emotion of fullness will decrease your feelings of antipathy also. Eat lots of salad, leafy vegetables and have low-calorie snacks in-between. Eating healthy improves your immune system and strengths your ability to work more qualitatively and quantitatively as well.

  4. Meditate yourself and do exercise regularly. Try to meditate yourself for the minimum time you can afford but stick to that minimum time. You can increase that time, but should not decrease. similar is right for exercise.  No need to do 1 or 2 hour exercise. Even 20 minutes exercise will be a great energy booster. But you should do it regularly. Combination of both meditation and exercise will boost your energy level.

  5. Sharpen yourself. It’s an old saying quote, ‘Past glory and education don’t count much. Give some time to read books, listen news and Read newspaper etc. Meditate for small time and maintain your peace of mind. It will help in sorting out your life problems more efficiently and taking important decisions calmly.

  6. You can say no.  Don’t feel guilty to say ‘no’, when you have no time to do that. Stretching yourself is good but only sometimes. Stretching too much will affect your health and in result your working efficiency. Don’t be rude. But politely ask someone else to handle the part of the work-load.

  7. Enjoy your hobbies. Enjoying good hobbies is a great food to your mind. Cultivate your hobbies (whatever you always wanted to do). It provides a great distraction from your burdened working hours.

  8. Pamper yourself. It’s a best way to enjoy your life. Pampering yourself will energize you like anything. Go to parlour, have facial, body massage. Get a special hair cut, go to a restaurant, do whatever you like to do. Give some time exclusively for yourself.

  9. Be socially active. Always be in touch with your friends, neighbours, classmates and other colleagues.  It’s of sure that having good social network helps you out in hard times. Family and friends are two blessings in someone’s life. They provide supportive hands when you need, and help you have good times. You can spend memorable time with your friends and that will be a great stress reliever.

  10. You should not do overburden yourself with your work.  Understand yourself, your limitations. Don’t expect too much from you and from others too. Be honest to yourself. But on other side, don’t forget to do your best.
