A Gathering of Thoughts

People say they take time to reflect on life. But do they really?

Many times, we all have something we wish to say to someone, yet when given the opportunity, we keep our mouths shut. Why do you suppose this is? Are we afraid of another’s reaction to our viewpoint? Maybe we ourselves are unsure of our perception. I believe it’s a circumstantial lacking in our ambition for seeing truth and righteousness prevail, regardless of personal care or connection.

Oftentimes, we walk the pathways of life with this incessant feeling of our need to please all people around us. Granted, we know this is unnecessary, and can even become unrighteous if taken to the level of being man pleasers. Even so, the continuous desire to show our skills and strengths never disappears. Undeniably, our actions of day-to-day life can show a great deal to those around us. They can give credence to our care for quality, precision, perfection, and propriety. Above all else, we must ensure we demonstrate to others our desire for truth to be upheld, and falsehoods be dissolved.

Truth: What a simple concept. Honest facts that require no interpretation or additional explanation.

Lies: What a complicated perversion. Utterly despicable threads of falsity, which always require unending validation.

Granted, there’s more to these two principles than aforementioned, but in keeping things simple, these are essentially the purest forms of definitions. Unfortunately, this world is full of people who ignore the purest simplicity of these two actions. They allow themselves and their minds to become subject to the manipulation of truth put upon them by others. Because of which, they grow more and more blind to one basic principle: Sticking to the facts holds all of life’s complications in a bubble of simplicity.

Some professing Christians are just as bad, if not worse, than the best of the best when it comes to blatant dishonesty and hypocritical actions. Naturally, this gives discernible proof as to the phony precision of such professions. Sadly, many of us convince ourselves into believing that we never have, nor shall we ever, fall in with that category. Nonetheless, it’s a very steep and slippery path, which hides close along the shoulder of the straight and narrow. It’s only by God’s grace that we aren’t there already.

How often in life do we stop to question our actions? Especially when it comes to an aspect of us giving of ourselves. All too easy is it to take the stand of, “Well that’s good enough.” Oh, really? Since when does “good enough” meet the highest standard? We should apply ourselves in putting forth our greatest effort, no matter the application. For until we know we’ve done our very best, having left no stone unturned, nor any limb hanging, until that moment, we should never settle for less what God would require of us.
