A Simple Country Life

This is a story of growning up in the country. We may not have had all the frills that kids have today yet we never felt like we missed out on anything. Food was home cooked and entertainment was cheap or free. Oh how I miss those days.

Family reunions were a big deal that we all looked forward to . Setting around eating great food , playing out side  and listening to our elders tells us about when they were are age and how lucky we were . Yes of course we had to hear the same story every year from one of our Aunts or Uncles  about how they had to walk to school up hill both ways in 5 feet of snow . But as the older generation has passed away it has been left to the younger ones it is now treated as more of a hassle than a privilege.

At times I think of how lucky my son and daughter are to have all this great new developing technology but at the same time it saddens me to know that with all that came the loss of imagination and good old fashion family time. As time moves on our values and views of what is important in life chances .Now we are all more  concerned with rushing around to see who are next text message or email will be from and what is going to happen next on our favorite tv show to stop and think what a joy we are missing out on in simple country life.  I would also like to add a link to my friend Ruby Hawks  great article about her  life as a child .
