A Smile of The Heart
Many times we face challenges, obstacles and not always can that smile be worn on the lips. Sometimes its in the eyes and sometimes in the heart.
Sometimes you have a hard time explaining an idea like the power of a smile to someone who is hurting. The only thing in their being is the pain that they feel inside.
Try to explain the basis of having gratitude to someone who just can’t seem to find the will to get up after a day of painful treatments either medically or socailly by society.
Yes many times we can field a smile when things are going well and when we are happy about what is going on in our lives. But what about when we come across a huring soul. A uneasiness develops even among the best of us.
Two stories touched my hear today, perhaps in a matter of minutes this afternoon. The first a story on the radio of a Reverand Chester Cook, the chaplin at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport. His ‘church’ as it is put includes over 58,000 employees and a quarter of a million travelers who pass through each day. He consols, guides, lifts and prays with many each day that at times it seems like a ER than an airport. He encourages and supports sometimes beyond his budget and often into his own pocket. How does any man place such kindness and support in a moment of such hurt. The story and link is found here.
The other story of a dear friend who is a caregiver who is on edge because of the twists and turns in his families health and well being. My prayers are with them of course every day. But how does a smile help his world at that very moment. My words felt so small at the moment but all I could think of was that I wanted to share my concern and if I could not place a smile on his face at that moment, I wanted to leave a smile within his heart. I hung up and tought on this a moment. What a gift to give if you can just shoulder the burden to lend a smile to ones heart.
We all have bridges to cross, and waves to ride. Storms to run through and winds to remain steadfast during the strongest. But if we can build upon the simple ‘golden rule’ that states do unto others as you would want done unto you, then maybe we can not only smile with another face to face but send a smile to the very core of his being.
I hope today you find this message and take the time to share a smile whether upon the face or just heart to heart.
Teach your children about having gratitude and share with others what you are grateful for each day.
I pray for you all and I thank you for all your kind words and thoughts. I like you have rising storms that come and go in my life. I challenge them each day with prayer, faith and trust. Trust in God, my faith and my beliefs that I can make a difference and storms do pass.
Don’t ever stop walking through a storm, don’t ever lose faith and don’t give up that smile even if it is only placed upon your heart.
Till next time……Smile and show another what gratitude is all about. : )
