Abandon Nothing
An article on looking at life in a different perspective.
If there’s one thing I hate, it’s sad memories. Someone who abandoned you in the past, or maybe someone or something you abandoned. Now, I’m not here to tell anyone how to live their life, but, a big part of my personal credo is to “abandon nothing”. It seems so simple, but it’s really not.
There’s many ways to interpret such a statement. I like to see it as a “live everyday as though it’s your last” kind of statement. That’s not to say that one should not apply common sense. If you’re a drug addict, you shouldn’t use the statement “abandon nothing” as your excuse to continue your unhealthy lifestyle, but maybe you could find a new “drug” to replace your addiction, such as music, art, or science. The possibilities are endless.
Abandon nothing could also be interpreted as a motivational tool. A way of saying stick to what your doing, and don’t abandon it, because to quit would be abandoning something. It’s a bold way of teaching perseverance. ”He conquers who endures” is my favorite quote on the subject of perseverance.
In contrast, it’s not unusual to say that to start something new would be the opposite. When life gets stagnant, abandon nothing, and start something. Start something new. Whether it be a new stamp collection, learning a musical instrument, or taking flying lessons. Take yourself out of your comfort zone. It’s the only way one can see life from a new perspective. In that sense, only the greatest people are the ones who abandon nothing.
