Begin

No matter where you are in life, you can always choose to start anew.

“And then there was light…”, that was the begining of it all and soon after more followed. It began with words, simple, thoughtful and determined words spoken into existence that became life. How marvelous it is that this life is not one big blurb of mass, sitting, waiting, bored. For many who believe in re-incarnation, the idea of a new beginning after death is pretty fascinating and so they live their lives hoping and waiting for that day when they could be more than they are now but  in another life. We don’t have to wait for death, we can experience and create new beginings everyday in our lives, that is the difference between living and existing. Living is enjoying and savoring every moment, cherishing the good, the bad and all that comes with life, finding the rainbow in every storm, the silver linning in every cloud.

From the dawn of conception, inside its mother’s womb a child is created and a new life begins. Then comes its first cry, a song of joy for its mother and father, a beautiful beginning that if nurtured can flourish into something more wonderful than we can imagine.  Every stage after that is a new beginning; infant, toddler, teenager, adult, marriage, children, new job, new friends, getting fired or let go, learning new things, all are pivotal milestones of that individual’s life and within those moments are thought processes that determine the continuity and defines the integrity of that life.

One event  we are most familiar with is falling in love for the first time. This is because it’s an emotional growth process we all must face. The very first feelings we have for another, the yearning and longing to love and be loved in return. It shakes us to our very core and takes precedence over everything in our life. It sets a standard by which we judge and perceive situations. If everything goes well, we are more optimistic, less aggressive and pleasant to be around, it is a new beginning and one of  euphoria. But then comes heartbreak, the opposite of the same strong feelings  we felt about love. It shatters us in more ways than one and leaves us with an unbearable pain that can’t be explained, and what we choose to be and do after that event is determined by how much we let that one situation affect us. Most people become pessimists and not only when it comes to relationships but with every other aspect of their lives. They let the pain of the past bleed into opportunities of the future.
