Choice of Perception is the Key to Happiness
What we choose to focus on in life will determine how we feel inside.
Even just by saying, whether a person feels it or not, that life is happy and that they are enjoying it will make such a difference to how they are feeling inside. The words also present a sort of feeling and will influence a person’s perception of life through choosing to take these thoughts on as their own.
What this means at the core is that what we choose in life to focus on will in the end give us what we ultimately desire, just through changing perception alone. It will not always change things physically, but it will immediately have results mentally changing the feelings that we are having inside and our direction of focus in life.
Imagine that you are focusing on a tree and this tree is wilted and dying. You feel sad to focus on the tree because of the state of its condition. Maybe you then feel sorry for the tree and you continue to focus on it everyday hoping that it will come back to life and sprout a new bud, but it continues to die until it is decaying on the ground. Through viewing of this tree it brings up all sorts of thoughts, making you focus on death and limitations in life. It brings up also feelings of sadness and pity.
What if you were to accept that the tree will die, and that it is part of life and instead by focusing on the tree which is making you unhappy, you choose to focus on the new young tree growing at the other side of the garden? Everyday it is getting bigger and sprouting new leaves and growing up strong and healthy. When you look at this tree it makes you think of new life and possibilities. It makes you feel happy inside and full of hope for the future.
The wilted tree still stands in the garden and you see that it is there, but your choice of focus has changed. You are no longer only focusing on sadness but also on happiness, bringing you to an eventual acceptance of change and to the fact that although the other tree will die, life will still go on.
A person could choose to focus on sadness as the only thing that is a part of life, but this is not the totality of it all. It is a choice based focus that is allowed and accepted as normality for the person who is experiencing it. At any moment in time they can with their mind, choose to focus on something else just with one thought alone, and it is the key to knowing that choice of perception can lead to happiness.
Happiness is chosen in life, it is not awarded to us. Even the most successful and luckiest person in life can be unhappy, if it is what they decide to focus on. Feeling happiness comes from our choice of perception and it can be achieved by anyone in life. Thinking can be changed in just a moment, even if physicality has limitations. We can first focus on our thoughts and what we want and then later find ways in which to achieve our dreams physically, hopefully leading us to focus on what we want rather than what we do not want to experience in life.

Focus and choice of perception will ultimately guide us to things that we want to experience. I love the line. Generally, choice of perception is the key to happiness for most of the people. However, there may be times were choice of perception directs individual to melancholy and misfortunes. A good topic to discuss with…
