Discovering Your Purpose in Life

Discover your purpose in life and live a meaningful life.

As a young boy of seven, I once had a close call with death. I still can remember vividly how I ate a poisoned bait for house-hold pest without knowing. The next environment I found myself was in the hospital with tubes and other medical devices wired to all parts of my body. After series of battles, the doctor could only say “young man it is a miracle that you are awake.”

As an adult I saw the miracle the doctor had told me of. That is a miracle of purpose. GOD had a purpose for me that was why I was spared. To this end, I took a quiet time to ask myself the purpose for which I was created. It dawned on me after deep meditation and prayers that I was made to inspire others to greatness.

No man is born without a purpose. No man is spared without intent. For me, I have come to believe that I was born to empower, enlighten and inspire others to greatness. You are also born for a purpose. Robert Byrne Opined that, “the purpose of life is a life of purpose”. And everyone must strive to find his true purpose for living. This must first and foremost be sorted out without which life in not worth living. Little wonder then that Helen Keller remarked that. “True happiness is not attained through self- gratification, but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.”

The question may be posed “what is this worthy purpose?”

A personal understanding and discovery of our worthy purpose is what separates as from the pack of purposeless generality and puts us in the class of meaningful specific. It serves as a principle around which we organize our lives. It also serves as a principle around which we build our dreams. We must dream on purpose. Purpose must be the precondition for meaningful dreaming. Yet are your dreams purpose-drives?

You need to understand that you were never consulted to determine your existence. However, your will have to come to terms with your unique experience, gifting and potentialities to discover your purpose for existence. You have the right to be here. Only the awareness of your definite major purpose will make that right worth your while. Anything short of this will make you a wandering personality, living life aimlessly and uselessly. Moreover, no matter the nature and size of your dreams, if purpose is missing you are building without a foundation.

Men who dream without a major sense of purpose, though they achieve those dreams and attain what may apparently be coined as success, must beware of the eventual danger of such path. They must take seriously this caution from Aesopi “beware lest you lose the substance by grasping at the shadow.”

Many men have dreamed without the proper foundation of purpose and have grasped only the shadom, losing the substance. Discovering your purpose is the key.

Remember that when you were you were born the world rejoiced and you cried. You must endeavour to live your life in such a way that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice.

Only through discovering our purpose and putting it into action that this can become an ultimate reality.

See you at the top.
