Do You Stereotype?

Why do we prejudge people?

1. A person who is dress in all black and paint there nails black are judge to be devil worshippers.

2. People who wear baggie pants with them halfway hanging off of their butt are thugs.

3. Females that wear revealing clothes are sluts or easy.

4. Man who have big hands are well endowed.

5. A person wearing a suit or speaks properly would most likely not rob you.

6. People over weight just like to eat too much.

7. People who are very thin are on drugs or they have an eating disorder.

These are just a few examples of what I’m talking about.  I’m sure there’s many more.  My point is why stereotype?  You should judge from the inside not what the person is like on the outside. There are many people who dress a certain way, but they are not thugs. You have people who wear nice suits that will rub you blind of your savings.

Here is an example I want you all to remember.  Let’s say your black and a white man killed your daughter.  Do you hate all white people for that individuals actions? No, I would hope not.  Because if another black man killed your daughter, you wouldn’t hate your own race.  You would hate or dislike that individual.  Remember to never judge a group of people for the sins or crimes of one person. Treat everyone on an individual basis and life will be so much better for us all.

Big jump from stereotyping to hating.

And what is wrong about stereotyping?

Let’s say you are out walking when a big pitbull comes running at you are you going to “judge” the dog or wait until he bites? Now if you are visiting your best friend that is a loving caring person, and he owns a big pitbull, would you judge the dog the same way?

It is important to stereotype, otherwise you can get yourself into unsavory positions. How stupid would one have to be to not see the difference between seeing a 28 year male with baggy pants walking behind you and the same male dressed in a suit behind you.

Imagine you are a cop, you are driving the streets of south central and see two clean cut teenagers driving a nice car. Would it be wrong to stereotype them as being in the area to buy drugs?

To treat them different and deny them rights would be wrong, to judge them on many different criteria wouldn’t. People are judged every day, deal with it.
