Eight Steps to a More Manageable and Happier Life

If you follow all or some of these eight recommendations, you will find that your life will become more orderly, more manageable and happier, and that you will begin to have a sense of mastery over the hectic pace of modern living.

  1. Buy a weekly desk calendar and carefully plan your days and your weeks. List everything that you want to remember. Be sure to check it every day.
  2. Try to make each day more manageable by setting aside some time for rest and relaxation.
  3. Shift responsibilities around so that you don’t have too many tasks to accomplish in one day.
  4. Get as much help with your responsibilities as you can afford, or ask friends and family to help you, if needed. (Don’t try to be a hero.)
  5. Learn to say no to the excessive demands of others.
  6. Regularly take some time for yourself that’s free from responsibility, so the you can reflect, enjoy and recharge your energies.
  7. Try not to be a perfectionist. Perfectionists are hard on themselves and others.
  8. Don’t compare yourself to others. Take pleasure in your own accomplishments.
