Eight Tips on How to Look Younger Than Your Age
People say it’s the quality, not the length, of life that matters. But it matters if you have a longer, and at the same time, good quality life. Here are eight tips that will do just that.
Although genetically some people tend to age faster than others, here are some tips my wife and I learned which we personally applied. Whenever my wife and I meet other people, they always thought we’re five or even ten years younger than our age. The following tips are mainly behavioral approaches, so there’s no need to apply those costly additions to your face or body. I provided a useful link to back up each tip.
-
Eat a Nutritious Diet
Nutritious diet means less of junk or fatty foods. Eat as much fruit as you can but avoid too much acidic fruit like pineapple as it can damage the protective coating of your teeth. Fruits contain lots of antioxidants.
-
Drink Lots of Water
You hear it all the time. The standard water intake is 8 glasses a day, not the cold one because this could upset your stomach. Also, you should not drink too much right after a meal.
-
Avoid exposing yourself to too much sunshine.
Especially on hot summer days, the heat of the sun can ruin your skin. Although sunscreens are usually recommended, it’s better to be on the safe side. There may be undesirable ingredients in it. Find a shade.
-
Stop Smoking (if you do)
Smoking hastens skin aging. Nicotine adds years to your appearance. Scientific studies point out that even one puff of smoke can produce trillions of free radicals in the lungs. And radicals are known to irritate body cells, increasing your risk of cancer. Besides, this can also pollute the atmosphere and make your breath foul.
-
Work with the type of work that you like.
Find a work that satisfies you. Overwork is also unproductive so you also need time to relax, don’t take your life too seriously. Whatever you do, anyway, you have only at most an optimal of 8 hours a day. If you’re after money, who will spend lots of them when you leave this world. Gain insight from the words of Solomon in Ecclesiastes 2:21, “For there is a man whose labor is with wisdom, knowledge and skill; yet he must leave his heritage to a man who has not labored for it…”. We only need enough to live. Money is not everything.
-
Get Good Sleep
Sleep normalizes our bodies functioning.
-
Keep Your Stomach Trim
Exercise but don’t overdo it. Brisk walking and running (if you are younger, i.e., in your 20’s or early 30’s) will benefit a lot to your appearance. Our pores get clogged if we do not allow it to excrete dirt from our bodies through perspiration. One way to judge if you’re doing fine is your breathing. If you can breath deeply and your stomach does not bulge, then you are alright. Body frames differ so you cannot really expect to look like the slim ones if you have a larger body frame.
-
Have a Positive Outlook
Many people live longer because they have a positive attitude towards life. If you have problems, these are at best transient. Most of your cares can be resolved through time as time heals wounds. Prayer and meditation are one of the best remedies. I applied a biblical approach to my problems and they were gone. Cast your burdens upon the Lord, and He will give you rest (Matthew 11:28-30).
I hope you find this useful and have a longer, more productive life.
