Finding Your Passion
Career change means finding your passion in what you do best.
Finding your passion in what you do best.
The dictionary definition of lifeless is: boredom, having no interest and without inspiration. I define lifeless as working a job without merit, no advancement, praise and gratitude given.
Most Americans have to work and some even love their job, but for the sixty percent that doesn’t there is a solution to the problem. We all have choices and it is up to each of us to pursue the things in life that make us happy. There are those of us that live paycheck-to-paycheck, struggling to survive and to no avail drowning.
You go to work everyday performing a job you have no interest in except receiving little revenue. Not only are you working a lifeless job, but also you have to deal with cynical individuals. Example: The person that thinks you want their mediocre job. To them it means a lot and they have no idea that you have bigger ambitions than making minimum wages. You deal with the individual that tries to make you look bad in order to make them look good. Why do we subject ourselves to such abuse?
You work hard without promotions, raises or acknowledgment. If you have been on a job three or more years without advancement, consider, you are working a lifeless job. Working late hours hoping to be noticed, going beyond the call of duty to no avail, still not noticed. Always making management look good, getting all the credit for your hard work.
One day my father spoke something so profound, that it changed my life forever. He told me:
“If you are working a job you do not love, then it is not your passion.”
He told me to find a job you love to do. I believe there is a job that exist you would love going to everyday. Life is too short to settle for mediocre.
How can you find that loving job? I’m glad you asked. First find your niche (what you enjoy doing). Usually your passion is something you already do, but because what you enjoy doing comes so naturally, you ignore and think it is not a passion. My analysis to a job with life is:
- Enthusiasm: when you are doing what you love to do, no one has to motivate you or challenge you to perform at your best.
- Effectiveness: whenever you do what the creator wired you to love to do, you get good at it. Passion drives perfection.
Don’t waste your life on a job that does not express your heart. So you have to decide, do I take control of my fear and pursue my passion or do I continue working a dead-end-job?
I’m not telling you to quit your job, but I am saying evaluate your position. Never make a change without a plan. Also do well where you are and it position and prepare you for where you want to go. Continue to be grateful, perform your present duties well and just keep you eyes on the prize. In order to succeed you must know that greatness is within and you deserve so much more.
Take control and stop limiting your ability of becoming great. You can achieve if you only believe. Figure out what you love to do, what the creator gave you the heart to do, and then do it. Action is the key to a successful future.
