Good Does Not Always Prevail

One of the most important things that kids learn, from the moment their parents communicate with them, is that people should be nice. Generally, if you are a good, supporting, and inspiring person, people will also feel good. This perfect system gets society and life to flow smoother. Unfortunately, not everyone in the world is good, and a simple nice gesture won’t change people’s minds and views of the world. There are people out there who take the light way of life too far. If you are a hardcore believer of karma, think for a little while what the world gives back to you for your permanent toil. While it is important to be nice, you shouldn’t be too much of a “goody-goody” because it will not benefit you; in many ways, it will harm you.

First of all, people who are too nice do not have the guts to stand up and voice there opinions will not succeed in the real world. If you paste a fake smile on your face to everything in the world that occurs, you are going to boil under your skin and loathe life in secrecy. Have a little bit of a bad side and stand up to those who appose and oppress you. Along with this idea, people who have the idea to be purely good may think the rest of the world is just like that. This will develop naivety to the ferociousness of society. If you are a parent and you appease and let your children get away with everything, they will grow up being the exact opposite of you. In that case, there are two extremes that could have simply been prevented.

“Treat others the way you would want to be treated” is the basis of the Golden Rule. Adapted by most complex religions, this is the simple way of life for many people across the world. It’s great if you want to be kind and courteous to every single person, but not everyone is courteous to you. However, people do not always treat other people like that. You don’t always have to appeal to everybody’s senses. Always be respectful to people, but don’t give them random compliments that you don’t really mean. This will just make you look awkward and like a fool who has no real social idea.

In the world, you will be a one in a million social outcast if you are 100 percent good to the bone. The types of people who are seen as “cool” in society are respectful ladies and gentleman, but they also have a bad side. If you want to be seen as cool, you should treat everyone equally, but still have a little bit of a wild side to show that you are not a puppet of rules and regulations. If you are a goody-goody, you won’t have much fun at all. People will realize this and see that you don’t live life to it’s fullest. They will neglect you as a friend and never want to spend time with you.

All in all, being a white knight will not help you in the long run of real life. Bullies and competitors will walk all over you. Your life will be full of shortcomings and letdowns. No matter how much you try to give to society, you will always be shortchanged in many ways. Not everyone always treats you with the right kind of respect, so people who disrespect you deserve to be returned the favor. The world will never give back as much as you give to it. Indulge a little bit… be a little mean when it is an appropriate circumstance. Don’t go out and punch some random guy in the face, but understand that even totally nice guys will usually finish last.
