Good Will Always Conquer Evil

Trust your heart and you will always be safe.

Then all of a sudden, I felt her standing up next to me. She was unzipping the small purse I had attached to my bike handles! I quickly hung up the phone and tried to close it, but she had already stuck her hand in and stole my credit card. I told her to give it back to me, but she was already packing up her stuff. I was in shock, but I got off my bike and she continued to walk away. I said give it back and got closer to her. She was holding an umbrella and started to swing it wildly at me. At one point she swung so hard that it hit my wrist. It hurt and I backed up. I still cannot believe it took place out in broad daylight as cars zoomed by.

At that point, I was just in disbelief. I was having a tranquil day and had taken time out of my day to try to help another person and not only had I been cursed at and verbally abused, I had just been robbed and physically assaulted. My heart and mind reeled.

As she continued on her way, I told her that since she wouldn’t give me back my credit card I was just going to call and have it canceled. She only walked a couple of blocks away out of sight. It appeared that she was going into a store and so I figured she was going to try to use my card. But, a few seconds passed and she started to walk back toward my direction. She had put her belongings down somewhere and was only holding my credit card in her hand.

I stayed on the phone still ready to report my card stolen when she walked closer and closer. I could see that she felt bad for her actions and that she wanted to do the right thing. I could tell that she liked me because I had not retaliated, I had only asked why was she doing this to me? I had not raised my voice. I had not become angry, just hurt, confused and shocked.

Then, she handed my card back.

I hung up my phone and got off my bike again. She started to walk away and I said “God Bless you. Thank you so much.” I tried to say more, but then she started to say verbally abusive things again.

By this time a good sumaritan gentleman had pulled up the side of the road. He asked me if everything was okay. I said, “Yes, do not worry.” I looked back one last time at the lady. I could see in her eyes that she wanted me to stay, that suddenly she realized the goodness in me, but at that moment I got on my bike and rode away.

That happened about two weeks ago and I still think of that lady. I send her blessings in my prayers and thank God for reminding me that without retaliation, with only good intentions, good will always overcome evil actions. For that lady is not evil, her actions were evil.

My best wishes to all.
