Gratitude is the Secret of Happiness

Great things are not necessarily grandiose.

I have seen the DVD of The Secret before.  It is all about positive thinking.  Positive thinking attracts positive energy; that is the main premise.  However, as I watched this DVD several times, I realized that there’s a greater secret to it than just optimism.

Gratitude…that’s the secret of happiness.  Being thankful to all the blessings we receive everyday…being thankful with the smallest details in our lives…

Just imagine being so ungrateful with the things we receive every day.  Is not it that life will just be bitter, sad and gloomy?  Being grateful instead makes life easier and much better.  It is a very satisfying feeling to realize that we are blessed in many ways which we oftentimes do not see.

We are blessed for being alive every single day on earth.  It doesn’t matter if there will be hardship and trials throughout the day.

We are blessed that every time we open our eyes in the morning there’s the sun shining through our abode and gives us another day full of hope.  It doesn’t matter if the heat of the sun makes us sweat and makes the house humid.  The sun symbolizes that every day is a new beginning.

We are blessed that we have family and friends for there are people who live on their own.

We are blessed that there’s food on the table to fill us regardless of how it tastes.  For there are lots of people in the world starving and dying of hunger.

We are blessed that we have clothes to wear, it doesn’t matter if they are old and torn or stained.  For there are people who are bare and are getting sick with rain and cold or heat.

Oftentimes, we overlook the blessings we have and that’s what brings misery in our lives… we want for something that we do not realize is already existing…

We desire for greater things that we do not realize great things are not necessarily grandiose.

That’s so true – that is the essence of life. We should remember it more often.

you are absolutely right. We have so much to be thankful for. The sunshine, bubbleing creeks, flowering shrubs, just being able to get out of the bed in the morning is plenty to be thankful for.

You got it right my friend. That’s the reason why I have posts recalling my past life because however you consider the hostility of the present, there’s still a point to be thankful about; being there alive to enjoy the moment! A nice wake up call for everyone, thanks Toni.

I think that sometimes as a society we become complacent by not seeing what we do have instead of what we don’t….We hold more value to possessions than our own families…. hopefully soon we all will learn to be grateful….by just seeing how blessed you are…
