Why are children happier than adults? How do they differ in terms of opportunity to build up character?

Did you ever wonder why children are observed to be happier and feeling more triumphant than most people who are grown up ? Let us take a closer look at the reasons why this is so. They do not have strong character. Yet they are happier.

Less Responsibilities, Less Problems

If adults lessen their responsibilities, will that make them happier ? Having less problems in life can obviously relax the mind. But because adults are made aware of many wants they can satisfy by being more responsible , and the expectation from them is definitely higher, the usual case is for adults to seek for opportunities to be compensated for the performance of responsibilities. Work replaces play. If adults enjoy their work, life becomes satisfactory. Will it then be a matter of choosing the right work that can be considered enjoyable or interesting ? If this is so, it is possible for certain responsibilities to have less problems. It really depends on the organization that cares for the people who are working, to some extent, because adults have the ability to cope up with what should be done. The entity that provides for the job can guide its manpower in such a way that they will see what, how, why things should be done. Adults can be like children who can have fun yet play games following rules.

Most of the time, however, one of the factors in life turns out to be missing or neglected.

Before looking more closely into these, let us examine the other traits of children and the other aspects not yet mentioned.

Children have less knowledge but are satisfied with simply trusting their parents or elders. They have a guardian who cares for them. As they learn and develop the awareness of surrounding circumstances, those who are properly educated to accept responsibilities, strive to be independent, and to become dependable, will take it upon themselves to live productive lives.

Sometime during their upbringing, what happens ? Favorable treatment, positive communication, examples of how to respond to various changes, problems, opportunities, negative attitude, sound judgment, erratic decisions, consequences — all these have an impact on how growing individuals are molded into the way they think, speak, act, and manage their lives.

The minds of adults have picked up good and bad thoughts by the time they have to become independent in life. Their habits to respond to different situations are tempered by time. Those who developed good attitude and who found enlightenment since childhood to adulthood can understand what it means to be happy like children. They can adjust to circumstances. They will be able to “play roles” with the best of their acquired knowledge, gradually releasing their dependence on parents. Unfortunately, for so many adults around the world, parting with vices that drag or stunt character development was observed as difficult to do. Discipline is one of the habits all adults should have learned to practice. Keeping the body healthy remains a big challenge to a greater part of the population, for example among Americans with 60 % of its women who were reported to be obese. When the body is abused by too much food or beer or pleasures, adults end up sickly, sleepy, or simply not capable of energetic work for the day. Here is where the problem begins. The organization that is supposed to care for them can be greatly affected in terms of performance. Minds of adults can be affected by their poor physical health. In their homes, the children actually witness the impact of those weaknesses. Instead of saving cash for the education of children, a lot of adults waste their cash on cigarettes, beer, and other unnecessary pleasures in llife.

Let us not forget the importance of the spirit as well. Children look up to their parents with trust, having experienced the care they received on their way to becoming adults. To whom will adults look up to ? Thus, those who have faith in God look up to their creator, communicate with a spiritual being greater than themselves, and aspire to be better, whereas those who don’t believe in God are missing the multiple benefits of believing.

Both children and adults are free to believe, to choose options in life, and to follow the right way to character building. The doors are open for people who believe in acquiring knowledge, understanding, wisdom, discipline, faith, hope, and love.
