How to Change the World
Simple ways to change the world for the better by changing our world view.
The world has a lot of problems today: violence, the threat of terrorism, teen pregnancy, drug abuse and a host of other problems that would take reams of paper to list. Suppose I were to tell you that there was a guaranteed way to change the world, and the power was in your hands. Would you be willing to accept the responsibility? It takes a lot of bravery but it is possible to change the world by starting with one person: Yourself.
The purpose of this article is to show you how to make a definite, positive difference in the world you live in by making definite positive changes in the one person who is the most important in your life. That person is you.
Be Yourself
How often do you look at yourself in a mirror and mentally list your flaws to yourself? Did you ever think that your attitude about yourself influences your attitude about the world? Being yourself, doesn’t mean being the person you think you are, it doesn’t mean amplifying your ego, it means being your true self, the part of you that is in alignment with the highest good. This doesn’t mean you should be “moral” or better than anybody else, it means to be authentic; to listen to your intuition and follow through on what you hear yourself saying. In my opinion, the best way to be authentic, to be yourself is to be accepting of yourself.
Be Accepting
So the best way to be yourself is to be more accepting of yourself. This means that if there’s anything you don’t like about yourself, well, you have to accept all those flaws and love yourself in spite of them… maybe even because of them. When you accept yourself you realize that those flaws you used to dislike about yourself were simply illusions. Realizing that your flaws are not real, you begin to understand that they have no power and there is really nothing wrong with you. When you accept yourself, you begin to take the next step in changing the world.
Be Forgiving
To forgive yourself is the natural progression after accepting yourself. Because by accepting the unreality of your flaws, it’s easy to forgive them. How can you not forgive something that really doesn’t exist? Ultimately, when you accept and forgive yourself for your flaws, you begin to see that the flaws of others are just as imaginary as yours and deserve as much acceptance and forgiveness as you.
Conclusion
I hope you enjoyed this article. In it, I hope you see that these simple steps if followed by every individual person, the entire world can be changed. After all, as my grandfather used to say to me: “Before you complain about the leaves in your neighbors gutter, clean your front porch!” Perhaps we all can “Clean our own porch” and change the world together, one person at a time.
