How to Talk to Yourself Compassionately

Talking to ourselves compassionately is an effective way to build confidence and can give us energy in times we feel empty and useless. Mastering this healthy habit can make us happy, able, loving, relaxed and effective citizens. Talking positively to ourselves when we feel nervous, hesitant, anxious and lazy can give us a boost energy to jump start a happy life that is ought for us to live.
Let us start by diagnosing ourselves. Oftentimes, most of us tend to down sell our selves habitually by thinking negative things like:
- I can’t do that because…
- I am afraid to fail because…
- I don’t have talents because…
- I am a failure because
Instead of :
- I can do that…
- I am not afraid to fail…
- I have talents…
- I can do great things
Now, we can start practicing positive thought replacement by following these simple guides and tips.

Admit to yourself that you are a chronic negative thinker. Admitting your shortcomings to yourself can give you a conscious effort to correct things. Get yourself into a covenant that you need to break this bad habit.

Monitor your self of negative self talks. You can jot down these destructive thought to make an easy reference to effectively avoid them. Refer to your list once in a while.

Practice positive and compassionate self talk always. Do this by positive thought replacement similar to what was written above. At first, this may be hard for you because breaking an old habit is hard. but if your are patient, this could bring tremendous change to your life.
