How to Turn Your Dreams Into Reality

Dreams are part of the human condition. However, dreaming your dreams and living your dreams define a new reality. The writer Thoreau said “If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; there is where they should be. Now put foundations under them.” By turning your dreams into goals, you too can achieve great things and make your dreams come true.

Change your dreams into goals. Once you have vetted your list down to the dreams you must achieve before you die. Break down each dream into tiny step goals. Goals should be straightforward and emphasize what you want to happen. Specifics help to focus efforts and define what we are going to do.

Aristotle, the Greek Philosopher, said of goals, “Man is a goal seeking animal. His life only has meaning if he is reaching out and striving for his goals. “By creating small measurable steps to your ultimate goals you increase your chance for achievement and the likelihood of success.

Measure Your Progress

If you cannot measure it, you cannot manage it. Harvey Mackay said it best, “A dream is just a dream.” A goal is a dream with a plan and a deadline.” An example of this would be to commit to a chapter a day for the novel until the dream of writing a book was fulfilled. By creating a measurable achievement, you can track how well you are moving towards the fulfillment of your goal.

Establish set small goals to measure your progress. Set target dates to measure your progress and to stay on track. For example, a dream of writing a novel will never be completed without a measured deadline. By setting deadlines, you can gear each small goal towards the deadline date. In the creation of a measurable process, will help you experience the exhilaration of achievement and encourage you to continue your efforts.

Purchase a Goal Planner

A goal-tracking journal such as the Goal Planning and Tracker Journal by Angela Claudette Williams or using the Goal Planning and Tracking system created by Stephen Covey can help you monitor your progress towards your goals. Tracking your progress is an excellent motivator when pursuing your dreams.
