If Only We Could All be This Harmonious
An audio/visual experience. This should be “bottled” and prescribed to take at least three times a day.
Last week while browsing for the locally held Coachella Fest, I came across this video. Seemingly, your run of the mill music video, I gave it a watch and listen as it is one of my favorite classics, “Stand By Me”.
Watching this video, however, something more than the catchy tune and beat emerged. If you only listen and don’t pay attention to the video itself, you’ll miss it. What unfolds before you, is an orchestra built on the mix of a variety of videos and muscial renditions of this same song. Not being a digital “techy” myself, I know enough to know the audio and video engineering and editing is genius. It’s simply an amazing piece of digital mastery of sight and sound.
As you listen and watch, you are reminded that music is a universal language. What’s more, the song we all know, spins a thread of well-being, love and happiness. Corny? Yes. And so what? Sometimes we just need that reminder of what is really important. Everyday hustle and bustle takes the wheel and we’re lost in meaningless details of our sole, minuscule lives. We lose sight of the fact, whether we like or not, we are part of a global community and have responsibilities as such.
We each may take something different away from this video experience. Myself, I took away hope for peace and compassion for this “community”. For all the talking and negotiating world powers feel necessary to accomplish this, maybe it is not so complex. This universal language reaches through other language barriers, cultures, religions AND politics. It is saying, we all have the same basic desires to live peacefully. So what are we all fighting about? It’s incomprehensible when the alternative is so clear. A universal harmony is possible. It occurs to me, learning music may be a better use of time and money where our politicians and diplomats are concerned. War is complicate. Peace is simple. Simple harmony. Will music be our way to peace?
Cameoed into the video are the producers themselves obviously mesmerized by what they are hearing. Whether or not they understand what they’ve accomplished, is a mystery. Whoever they are, my hat is off to them and hope they have the vision to continue the theme of “universal harmony”. I can’t imagine a better way to spend 5. An immediate and lasting “attitude adjustment”!
Turn up your speakers, listen and WATCH for yourself. And by all means, share this with someone you love. Or better yet, with someone you don’t love all that much. It would be really interesting to know what you take away from this video. But, please watch it at least 3 times.
