Life Long Learning

Why you want to learn something new everyday. When your mind is active, you feel more alive.

I have always been a great believer and advocate of continual life long learning. It is one of the very best ways to stay and feel young.

When we were children, our imagination kept us happiest. We did not need anything but our minds to keep us “high” on life. Part of this had to do with the fact that everything was new. But, we must always remember the saying “the more you learn, the less you know”.

Remembering this saying helps inspire me to keep my mind open to the newness that can be found in every moment. This delight in life will keep you young, happy, and feeling a positive zest for life, always. In addition, studies show that every time you learn something new, new proteins are created in your brain. This adds to the limitless enjoyment and wonder in life that you can experience.

Because of this belief, there are many learning goals that I have thought about and want to set for myself. I have tried some in the past, but then they fell to the wayside due to various reasons. I want to begin integrating them into my life again.

A few of my learning goals follow:

  1. Learn a new vocabulary word every day. Ever since I saw “Say Anything” and how the main lady character had looked up more vocabulary words than I think most people ever will in their lifetime, it inspired me to want to further increase my vocabulary. I know that it will not only enhance my writing skills, but it will do wonders for my mental clarity and positive state of mind. Learning keeps your mind, fresh, lucid, and healthy.
  2. Watch Ripley’s Believe it Or Not more often – when you watch the amazing abilities of others, it reminds you that the only limits in life are truly those that you place on yourself. It also reminds you that much of what we can accomplish in life has to do with our thoughts and when we use the power of the mind, we are capable of anything we can possibly dream of.
  3. Read the writings of others you admire on a more regular basis . When you take the time to appreciate the gifts that others are sharing with the world it does a number of positive things for you. First of all, it opens your mind to a whole new world. It also acts to further inspire you and help you feel connected to the world. By reading and being touched by the writings, art, etc. of other people you begin to realize how you can also touch the lives of others. It is a circle and we all need each other in this world.

These are just a few of my goals. I believe it is important to always be thinking about things that will help make your life happier, healthier, and provide enrichment.

Life is a continual journey of growing and learning. Your life will only grow more beautiful with every passing day. We are blessed with everything in our surroundings that we will ever need.

I try to do the first and third tips. I don’t know when Ripley’s Believe It Or Not comes on so I can’t watch that, but I do the other two tips. Thanks for another great article.
