Our Struggles are Only Natural

Hard times are part of life. The trick is getting over them. They make us better in more ways than one. They do us more good than harm.

Since the beginning of time when the earth came into being, the story of those that have made it has been one. You either survive or you are wiped out from existence altogether. I would not want to know of the creatures that inhabited the earth way before man did. One thing that am always thankful for is that those giant lizards that ate anything that moved are now long gone. I could not imagine being neighbors with one since the idea of me being food is not something that I normally laugh about. The lesson we learn from all these and other nature stories is that either you survive or you die.

Man has experienced a lot of struggle since beginning of history and if this life has taught us anything, it’s that struggles will always be there. There never was a success story that did not tell of endless struggles and countless defeats. Even the man who wins the lottery struggles in line to buy the ticket in the first place, right?

What separates the haves from the have-nots is their attitude towards these struggles. Whenever I am between a rock and a hard place I always think “just hold on. You are a diamond in the rough and this is exactly what you need to make you that one of a kind priceless stone that people would die to own.” All our struggles help us become something better; they help us discover something more we never knew we had. They refine our capabilities and bring out our best when all is said and done. But not everyone gets through.

Life, somebody once told me is a test and those who make it are those who push on until they pass no matter how badly or often they fail. Our difficult times simply test us to see what we are made of, what we can withstand. The sad fact is that most average people give up on their first failure and think that those kinds of tests are not meant for them. They limit their strengths and settle for much less, than they are worth.

I have learnt that the hard times don’t always go away but I can last longer and come out way better than anyone expects me too. All I can hope is for everyone to stop wishing life was so hard, get up and do something about it. A gem cannot be polished without friction nor man perfected without trials.
