Pathway to Self Discovery
A brief write-up on the relevance of self awareness in day to day living.
Many people have not come to full self realisation and do not understand themselves only because they have not taken out time to understudy their personality. If some came up to you and asked you saying “describe yourself in ten short sentences” What would be you response? Do kindly note that you have not been asked to describe how you look. I am more concerned about the real YOU and not just your body.
I suppose that most of us would pause to think before considering an answer. While some us may know what to say, we may not be able to put our thoughts in the right words in a perspective that best describes us. I was once faced with such dilemma while reading a book. The author had posed three interesting questions:
1. Who are you
2. Where are you headed
3. What is your world view
If we cannot give an immediate answer to such simple life questions then perhaps our inward person is being dictated on by environmental factors leaving us with minimal opportunity to choose the kind of life we desire.
The story is not so for all because few people discover themselves at a very young age -knowing what they want, who they are and where they are headed – others find it in time during middle age from the experiences they face as they journey through life. Yet, a vast majority just flow in the ocean of chance waiting for the wind of life to blow them wherever they presume that fate resides.
If one has not taken out time to understudy and discover oneself, there is little doubt that one would be able to offer much to others. There are basic fundamental issues about yourself you need to know for example your likes, dislikes, temperament, weaknesses, strengths, goals, desires, vision, views and your place in life. The fusion of all these would enable you make an informed decision about YOU as a person. You will also be able to muster up courage to refute whatever is thrown at you which you feel does not conform to your lifestyle.
We need not go through life without direction. Take out an hour daily for personal development. Aspire to improve on yourself for in so doing you would be able to improve on the lives of others.

You really start living only when you know yourself
