Remember the Simple Things
Tips for a successful and happy life.
Tips for a Successful and Happy Life:
1. Remember the simple things:
What do you remember from your childhood? When can you really say that you smiled, truly smiled, and what was it about? Probably not the money that you had in the bank. I would bet to say you can think of one small moment that every time you think of it, it made you smile. Concentrate on this. In this economy and political unrest, think of what you would imagine on your death bed and re-evaluate. These are trying times, humbling times….You have to know when you are fat to know when you are skinny. As I get older, it’s the moments in life that give life meaning. Pick a flower for someone from the crack of a sidewalk, make hot chocolate in a special glass, fold the toilet paper like a hotel and give your guest turn down service….write a card. Make a little effort in making someone feel special and it will travel for miles.
2. Don’t get comfortable:
Try new things. Explore. Discover. Keep yourself open to learning new things and expanding your horizons. You have no idea what is right around the corner. If you don’t try, you are no better than where you are right now. If you do though, the sky is limitless.
3. Say YES! to life:
How many times have you not done something and then wished you had? Life doesn’t happen in the things we don’t do, but it’s in the things we do. It’s not in who we exclude, but who we include. When you were a child, you tried everything. Learned by baptism by fire. Where is the line that we cross that when we get older we are stuck in our ways or are hesitant to try something new. Who knows, the people we meet or through new experiences in life are only going to make us richer. Remember, you are no worse off then you are if you didn’t try. So try.
4. Check off your list:
If you are middle aged, all of us have been there where we re-evaluate our life, our job, and what we have accomplished. The lack there of is what can make us depressed. Write down your list and check it off twice. Who cares if you are naughty or nice, just do it. Try. Expand. Explore. Discover. It’s not really a point of how much time we have, but what we do with the time that is given to us.
4. Reinvent yourself:
Just as businesses are trying to market themselves in a different way, we need to do a self inventory and really look inside to what we are portraying, how we are doing it, and if the outcome is not what we like then try and try again. What is working? What isn’t? Try try try….
So, as you read this, think about where you are, how you judge, how you smile, and how you make others. Don’t be stressed and even in these tough times, know each day is a blessing. We will never get this time back. Enjoy the simple things.
