Respect
About approaching different realms of life with respect, including sports, your parents and the environment.
Respect is an essential value to ensure harmony in the community. Being disrespectful can make a person disliked. People like people who respect other things because they are usually very nice and they would not discourage and tease them. Respecting others means a person does not have to like what someone does; they just have to accept what the do and not hate them for it.
Respect in sport is very important to keep the game moving. A sportsman should respect the umpire’s decisions or other player’s decisions whether they agree with them or not. For example, if a tennis player hits a good shot that they thought landed right on the like but their opponent calls it “out”, instead of arguing that it was in, they should respect the fact that they had a better view than them and that they were probably right. Another example is when a footy (AFL) player thinks that the umpire made a decision he does ot agree with, he should not spend his time arguing with him, he should respect and accept his decision and move on with the game. If there was no respect in sports it would not be a very fun game to play.
Respect for parents is very important to keep a family happy. If a child does not respect their parent, it can bring punishments of the child. For example, if a parent sets a new rule that the child does not think is fair, the the child might not obey that rule and then get punished for it. This might lead to the child hating the parents in the future. The child might regret this when he gets older. Another example is when a child may be climbing a tree and the mother tells him to come down right away. The child might think he is perfectly safe but he should respect his mother’s worries for him and climb down straight away because most of the time the mother is saying it for his own safety. If a child does not respect his parent’s decisions, he might get injured because most of the time the parent’s decision is fro his own safety and health.
If there was no respect for the environment, our world would probably be very ugly. There would be no plants except the few essential trees around to filter the carbon dioxide. For example if we had no respect for the environment, we would probably just cut down Daintree Rain-forest in the blink of an eye. We would not bother marvelling at the beauty of it , we would just see the profits that the wood and animal skins would make. Another example is if we had no respect for Uluru, we probably would have just build some sort of hotel or restaurant on it so people would not be able to see its true size. We should respect our environment so that we can keep our world beautiful.
We should respect most things that we see and hear for good will comes of it most of the time. It is good when people respect each other and the environment. It keeps the community happy and we do not waste our time arguing.
