Seven Ways to Make Your Life Better Today

Happiness is what we make it. It’s not owed to us but we are responsible of our own happiness.
I you want to feel better and happier about yourself and about life in general, here are seven suggestions.

1. Practice an attitude of gratitude.

For sure there are plenty of things that we want to happen or to achieve in our lives but it will make us feel hollow if we keep on thinking what is lacking in our life. The quick and easy way to become contented, fulfilled and happy is simply to appreciate things that you have. If we look at what we lack in life rather than what we presently have, we tend to neglect other things or take for granted important people.

Be thankful about family, your friends, your home, your health, your opportunities, and all blessings that arrived in your life.

2. Focus on the now.

We have the high tendency of worrying about the future. The fact that future and past cannot touch us and the present is all we have, why worry for past and future? Be here now! Take time to live in the present moment. If you worry about something that never happen yet you create troubles in your life that only exists in your mind makes you feel confused and sad.

3. Life is a journey not a destination.

Change is the only constant in this world. Take a long view of yourself and do not over focus at sad thoughts or negative feelings. At the moment you are sad but in the next few hours the feelings will be different. Take life as a journey of continuous adventure not just a one time destination.

4. Choose to treat others right.

Even if people do not treat you right, choose to treat them right above all treat all people right. You’ll feel better this way and people around you will respond to your kindness, remember the golden rule?

5. Watch your self-talk.

Self-talk is very important so feed yourself with good self-talk and don’t beat up yourself by talking negative or blaming yourself. Instead of saying, I did stupid move in that chess game you can rephrase it with I did my best and next time I will do better. The more you talk to yourself in a negative way, the more your subconscious mind feels rebellious and afraid.

6. Slow down.

I really think this is what lacks in our life today. Most things are made to make life more convenient but we always cram as if we are out of time.

I just recently learned this attitude and still practicing the 30 minutes ahead of time to wake up in the morning so I can slow down in my actions.

So when I walk in the street I still have time to look at my surroundings and a good time to appreciate what an amazing world I am living.

7.) Take two

Take two minutes before deciding. This is simply take at least 2 minutes before deciding about things or executes an action, this lessens accidents and makes you safe and you can create a safe environment as well. Japanese people exercise this behavior that is they have a safe country. No rush, take time to think first about things.

This is excellent advice. I especially like the “slow down” tip … I think that if we do that, it will help the other tips fall into place. Nicely done!
