Sharing my Way to a New Life

A path to remembering how special you are to life.

The greatest miracle in the world

(Revisited)

By Gregory Mack

The day had finally come. I had come in to life with high hopes and dreams. I walked on top of the world and my universe, like everyone else, did revolve around my wants and desires. Everything was great, just like I knew it was suppose to be. That promise whispered in my ear at birth was not a lie, life was a miracle and I was a miracle within that miracle.

No, it wasn’t always like this. Sure, it was when I was a child. When I was young, there was nothing that could hold me back. Everything I wanted was within my grasp. Life was abundant and I knew my place in the garden. Nevertheless, at one point it all changed.

When did it all change? My parents tried changing my belief from day one. They were always saying things like “life is hard”, “you can’t always get what you want”, or the famous “the world doesn’t revolve around you”. They felt they were right and doing the best thing by warning me. Life had taken them down a road of misery and misfortune. They had found a rut that was comfortable and stuck with it. They didn’t want me to go through the heartbreaks they went through. If they had only known that that was that very attitude that had put them in that rut, but they didn’t know. They had no way of knowing.

They were brought up the same way they were raising my brother and me. Their entire lives had been cursed by their parents also with lines like; “you are nothing but a dreamer that will accomplish nothing”, Go ahead and try, but I’m telling you it won’t work, and worst of all “life is hard and unfair”. If their parents had just known, and their parents, parents had know, and so on, and just didn’t believe this curse of negativity, then my entire family would have became successful in every venture in their own eyes. Instead, they were always on the look out for failure, so that is what they always found. They never even noticed when they did succeed.

Thank God that he pulled me from their clutches just in time. I could have gone either way. I could have been a failure seeker just like all of them. I could have been watching out for all the negative things and just considered myself lucky when any positive thing occurred. Thank God this wasn’t the fate that I was going to pass up the family tree.
