Simple Ways to be Happy

Practicing only a few things can make you happy! And they are very much possible!

Practicing only a few things can make you happy. They are:

  1. Satisfaction is the first key. No matter what is your situation be satisfied. Think your situation could have been worse and there are people out there in more agony.
  2. If you believe in God: pray. If you are an atheist try to be a part of the Nature. Meditation can be a gateway of this process. You do not need to do meditation in a formal way. Just have some basic ideas about meditation and create your own way. For example listening soft music or closing the eyes and imagining yourself at your desired place can be your way of meditation.
  3. Never get into any competition with others. What good will it bring when you know it was just an accident that you met the people you feel rivalry with?
  4. Enjoy your hobbies no matter how trivial they are. Get involved in those and increase knowledge in the interested area. But be careful; never expect any return from them. Suppose if you like to play piano never dream to be a famous pianist!
  5. According to Buddha losing close relatives or friends is one reason to be unhappy. If it happens in your life try to take it as a wish of the Nature. If you find it hard to believe just try to remember the sweet memories that you have had with the person passed away and console yourself thinking s/he could escape the pain of this harsh world.
  6. If you are in physical pain and there is no cure try to enjoy it! Think you are near to death and death is not the end. It is only the stage that will transform you to something else. Or just try to get habituated with the pain.
  7. Never hurt other people; by speech or any act. If other people hurt you think they are ignorant and received nothing by hurting you. They will get the return from the Nature.
  8. Be careless about other people (Careless in the sense that you do not have the ability to change the world). People have been suffering since the beginning of the world and it will continue. Think human sufferings is natural and only Nature can prevent it.
  9. Ask yourself if you really want to be happy or not. If yes just follow these few steps for six months and see the change in your mind.
