Spring Cleaning in The Fall: Removing The Junk From Our Minds

Keep your thoughts positive and your words will follow.

She looked up to me with those beautiful brown eyes. I am sure she was flabbergasted that I wasn’t critical or yelling. Then, much to my amazement, the harsh words stopped streaming into my mind… like magic. My heart rate slowed, I calmed down. I worked on the detangling. It was actually coming loose. What could have been an emotional tear filled scissors flying mess, ended up going rather smoothly. We were both amazed when the comb detached from the nest of mangled hair. We even got out of the door and into the car on time, like magic.

On the drive to school, I felt like I accomplished something incredible rather than thinking something horrible had just happened to me. Normally, I would have been going through the “why me’s” and Daphne would still be crying in the backseat. Rather than having Daphne begin her day terribly, I think she forgot about the whole thing minutes after she brushed away the remaining ball of hair where the brush used to live. It worked! I am not saying I will be able to accomplish this peaceful response each and every time I am faced with drama, but I will keep giving it my best shot.

Nice article. that tangled brush thing happened to my daughter’s very long hair a couple of times. I kept some anti tangle spray close by, it helped to prevent the problem.

I really enjoyed reading your story. Whether it is Spring cleaning or Fall, a clutter free room= clutter free mind. I do agree. Even a clutter free desk allows you to be organized. cute story on your daughter and the brush incident.
