The Brighter Side of Life

You have the ability to be happy in every moment.

During the first week after she left, I could still faintly hear her complaining words as I performed the tasks she spoke of. Luckily, within a short period of time I was able to tune and eventually fazed them out altogether. I was then able to replace them with all the positive thoughts I could conjure. I found out that we were allowed to have portable radios at our desk! It was a wonderful gift to me as I absolutely adore music. Next, I turned toward thinking about the beautiful co-workers around me and how much I enjoyed when certain people would greet me kindly in the morning or how I loved drinking my morning tea, how good it tasted.

Later at this position, I found that there was much manual labor and lifting. With my petite frame, at first, I did not like the idea of having to perform such manual tasks. But because they were a part of the job, I had to do them or else they would remain undone. As I began to get more into the rhythm of such activities, my mind set to work again. With thanks, I have been blessed with a mind that problem solves and always looks to remedies to allay any ill position I may be in at any given moment. (We have all been blessed with a mind that can problem solve and has limitless capabilities, we must all just learn how to practice and harness these abilities to the betterment of our life and the world around us.)

My mind did not fail me at that time of need. Quickly, I began to think of all the things I could be thankful for. I was indoors in a pleasantly air conditioned building. I knew in my heart that there were hundreds of millions of people in this world who pray every night to have a job like mine. In addition, I could still hear my music. I was helping out the company and I knew, in turn, my services would help everyone else in the company. And on a broader scope, the world as well for the happier I felt within myself the better I could treat others. I could pass my happiness to those I encountered and they could thus pass that happiness on to others as well.

During that activity, I also realized that the manual labor was great exercise. I had been meaning to begin working out on my arms more often and suddenly I found that lifting the boxes was doing a wonderful service not only for my mind and spirit, but for my body on a physical level. I was literally getting paid to workout! I thought, now, how many people can say that? I felt lucky and priviledged and my spirits were lifted to a higher place. And, at that moment, my mind had allowed me to create a time that was spent in happiness, joy, and sincere appreciation.

Blessings and best wishes to all.

Thank you for sharing your inspirational thought. I will try to remember the next time I do housework. I usually don’t like doing it, but I’ll try and think good thoughts about doing it.
