The Golden Days

We are told the golden day are ahead of us, they are the years when we retire. Unfortunately when we retire, we are exhausted with ache and pains, and most have lost that dream. Your dream is what keeps you going.

Golden Years

The golden years are supposed to be glorious carefree years, at the end of our lifetime. Glorious and carefree, sounds more like the years between nineteen and about twenty-three, when all we did was work, studied, and partied.

A photo of the family on vacation to Cancun (One Dream come True)

Photo taken with my camera by my husband.

The time when we did not have a spouse or partner, and yet we were looking forward to the day of our wedding, we dreamed of that day. We did not have children, but knew that would come, eventually if it were meant to be. We did not have rent, or mortgages, credit card debt, or a fear of finding a job. We were able to dream! We dreamed about the house, the job that would make us “wealthy”, family vacations, creating the family unit. We dreamed it all, but soon reality came knocking, and our dreams slowly diminished. The big gorgeous house, turn to a simple ranch home, with a simple back yard, maybe a pool.

The job that would make us wealthy, are just barely paying the bills, and the credit cards have gotten out of control.

(Photo taken with my camera by a friend…. these dreams can never be relieved.)

So our life moves on, we have the children, a career, we attempt to put money aside for retirement, but retirement does not seem to come soon enough. By the time we are ready to retire, the simple things we take for granted, have become difficult, climbing stairs just kills our knees, and squatting, is surely a challenge, especially trying to get up.

So the Golden Years, I guess refer to our hair color that has grown gray, not gold.

The true golden years are those years when we dreamed the big dream, and lived as if each day was our last.

Keep in mind, it is never too late, to start dreaming again, and great mind is a terrible thing to waste. Dream, set a plan, make a list, take one step at a time, and really try to dream big; it’s never too late.
