The Joys and Taste of Tiredness

Appreciating little feelings in life and not letting even the smallest pleasure go is what this article is all about.

Have you ever thought how disgusting it feels to lie on your bed all day and being lazy? Have you ever felt the uneasiness and pain of resting? When it feels like your bed has thorns on it. If yes, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. It feels more comfortable to rest when you’re tired. And resting after doing something is worth itself.

Feel the joy and taste of tiredness on a hard day’s night, which make you feel something worth more than money or gold. Think about it. How great would it feel when you’re all tired and you look back at all the big things you’ve done for which you’re tired now. The wonderful sense of satisfaction of doing something, which is important to you, has no substitute to it. Wonder why we feel so happy when our exams are over (regardless of the result). Anything important to you, not necessarily studies and you do it like a mission. And when you complete that mission, that is when you do successfully what you wanted to do, you feel like you’re the king of the world. We can even start from a very small level. Things like getting into the house late at night without being noticed, climbing something high, catching a bus you could never have unless sprinting like Michael Johnson, and similar things. If you start feeling happy about such small things to satisfy your adventurous soul, then you can really learn to be happy for something.

This thing is applied to people belonging to all walks of life. It can be for any person; like for a student after getting high grades in her/his exams, or for a cricketer after saving his team (like Steve Waugh did against South Africa in the 1999 World Cup semifinal, who really inspired me to think like this in the first place), or for a businessman after earning his business a good place in the market. See it’s with everyone, even with you. A thing we feel but do not talk much about.

Have you ever imagined if you could come out of a Temple of Doom alive grabbing a stone like Indiana Jones did; or escape enemy’s headquarters, after completing the mission, without getting shot? I’m not talking about Super Heroes or something, but of adventure and the sweet sense of satisfaction and peace of completing the mission and doing the needful job.

For the daring souls, I can recommend paragliding, which is quite safe and will be quite enjoyable. I’d like to do that myself but all it needs is a personal interest of course. Like some people take up flying, and some mountain climbing for the sake of adventure. Things like sky diving and bungee jumping can be quite fun. Now what’s the fun in it? OK let’s take sky diving for example. Once you are falling down and open your parachute, your heart fills with anxiety and danger about your landing, adrenaline becomes the dominant hormone in your body and you become worried about your life, and attaining a safe landing is like an achievement to you. The sense of satisfaction in your tiredness would be out of this world. Same would be the feeling of a troop who successfully completes his mission, and so on.

Life is like an obstacle course for us as well, my friends. We should value each and every moment of joy and savor the smallest pleasure, you don’t need a special reason to be happy really. This is how our lives should be spent. Searching out happiness and satisfaction through things, not very important to us, but if we think about it our lives will be much easier than it may seem.
