The Natural: Now It’s Easy Being Green
Help the environment and yourself in the process with eco-friendly products. Here are some resources for your journey to a cleaner planet and better you.
With so many issues facing the world today, being eco-conscience can sometimes fall between the cracks. Most people say “Hey I recycle and was thinking about those new hybrid cars,” but unfortunately this isn’t enough. Fortunately it also isn’t the only way that people can make the world a cleaner place. Going green isn’t just about the outside world. It begins with the individual right down to their everyday regimes (be it personal care, food, cleaning, etc.).
So now that we know that we want to work on our everyday existence to make the world a cleaner place, where do we begin? Well everyone grooms themselves whether they want to admit it or not. Make sure you are using products that not only encompass recycled or reclaimed packaging, but also take a closer look at the ingredients that go into making it. If you can’t define or pronounce what they are, then you probably shouldn’t be putting it on your body. Does the company test on animals? I certainly hope not. How are you ever going to look at Fluffy with a clear conscience again if you use animal tested products? Well now that you want to move towards recycled, organic, and non-animal tested products for your personal care, “where do I begin,” you might ask? I’m glad you did. The internet is a mecca of sites that can help guide you in this new found world of all things Earth friendly. Some great sites to check out for now are Mother Nature and Mountain Rose Herbs which both have an unlimited surplus of knowledge and products that are good for you and the Earth. If you are wary of ordering online, you will be surprised to find that a lot of the products on the first site can be found at your local Whole Foods, Trader Joes, and even supermarkets. The added bonus for this site is that they sale the products at a lower price and offer free shipping on orders over a certain dollar amount. Hey it can’t hurt to check it out right?
On to the key to everyone’s heart, the stomach. Food is very important. It keeps us alive. But are we sure that it is actuallydoing this? With all of the chemicals and preservatives on food today, some people might be better of eating pet food. Hey don’t laugh! Pet food goes through rigorous testing before it reaches your precious little ones. The good news is that the world is finally starting to wake up to non-pesticide, organic, and soil retaining crops that not only do the Earth good, but taste great in the bargain as well. Some great stores to try out in person are of course Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Wild Oats, local farmers markets, local organic stores, and even your supermarket. Once again just look at the labels and even the little stories that can be found in the produce section under the fruits or vegetables that you want to buy.
It’s not a lot of work, and you will be surprised to find where your food comes from. If you like to order online then check out these cool sites. Once again MotherNature.com is a great resource for all things organic and even Kosher. If you are into going the raw foods route, may I suggest Raw Guru for your dining pleasure? They have great alternatives to sugar and butter for those of you battling health issues related to these ingredients. Attention Costco and other bulk quantity store shoppers! This site has great option for this as well. As with anything, do your homework and feel free to explore your options. Happy hunting you clean eating Foodies.
Hey now that you have cleaned yourselves and had a healthy snack, what are you going to do about the dishes? Did you know that your household cleaning products should and can be eco-friendly also? My previous picks referenced above are wonderful resources for clean living cleaners. If you love your Target and local supermarket for getting your cleaning supplies, then fear not. These stores have Earth friendly cleaning products in stock as well. Brands like Method are making a dent in cleaning up your place and the environment, while leaving your pocketbook alone. Aren’t you glad? Now go out and do your research.
Earth friendly living is a limitless subject. I hope that my two cents has made you more curious about starting or doing more to help make our world a cleaner place to live. May you see it through green colored glasses. Thanks for reading and God bless.
