The Need for a Planetary Citizenry
Should the 21st century be the era of the development of a Planetary Citizenry?
Most of this divisiveness, war, corruption, and the lack of cultural respect for each other, is based on a rankist system developed by us humans over centuries that insist on a hierarchy that says, I am better then you. I am superior to you, I am stronger then you, I am richer then you, therefore, I have the ‘right’ to oppress, suppress and subjugate anyone or anything that does not have ‘my’ power. This mindset is divisive, and counter-planetary.
So as we move forward into the 21st century, let us ALL seek to transform ‘our’ consciousness. Lets think more planetary. Although difficult as it may be, we can prevail.
Some of the ways one can begin to shift their consciousness towards a more planetary consciousness:
1. Accept and internalize the fact that we are ‘All’ the same. Regardless of race, creed, class, gender, etc.
2. Accept and internalize the fact that we All belong to a greater cosmic order. That we are part of a larger continuum that reaches light years beyond earth but is also very close to us, hence our need to be close and understanding of each us as well as others culturally.
3. Begin to just say hello to everyone. No matter whom. It won’t hurt. As planetary citizens we have to begin to communicate beyond the bounds of the internet and our laptop email accounts, to the neighbor right next store.
4. Have a love and respect for the universe and nature.
5. Following step 4, begin to take direction from the ways of nature. Not just hug-a-tree, but listen to the tree. Not just watch a sunrise or sunset, but learn about its cycles because we are intricately tied those cycles as human beings. Our existence is ruled by the cycles. Although we have disconnected from it, we can get it back.
6. Connect, Connect, Connect, to each other no matter whom. Judge no one!
I could go on, but I am sure you can add to the list on how we can become more planetary in our consciousness. And so I will end this article with you thinking and suggesting how we can become more of a planetary citizenry. So I end here by saying; ‘POWER TO THE PLANETARY’.
