The Positive Thinking Attitude

Cultivate the positive thinking attitude with determination and faith in yourself.

The Positive thinking attitude helps you look within yourself, tap your own potential for happiness and attain peace of mind. With a positive thinking attitude you will not only get timely stress relief but you will learn a great method of stress management. I do not know if you can actually work miracles, as many people who advocate the positive thinking theory say, but the wonders it will do to your peace of mind is nothing short of a miracle.

The positive thinking theory

The positive thinking theory in a few words is this: If you think positive thoughts, your life will automatically become positive. If you need stress relief you have to think finding a method for stress relief is possible. If you want to win you have to act like a winner. If you want joy in life, expect nothing short of happiness. In short- you are what you want to be. With the positive thinking theory you can bring true joy into your life.

Be in charge of your mind

The positive thinking theory works on autosuggestion or self-suggestion. If you need something, you have to internally believe that you can get it.

Let me give you an example, say you want to find peace of mind and inner joy. You will have to relax your mind and believe from within that this method will work. And then with confidence say to yourself “I can have peace of mind. I can lead a happy, joyous life.” Repeat this statement over and over again to yourself, several times a day and day after day. Visualize yourself as happy and content. Trust that it is possible. Before you know it, you will be radiating joy and inner calm.

Discipline

Although as I said you can re-affirm the positive thinking message several times a day, it would be best to allot a time when you have to think about it. The best time for this would be early in the morning when your mind is uncluttered after a good night’s sleep. Sit back in a comfortable, but alert position. If you know yoga you could try vajraasana, padmaasana, sukhaasana or even shavaasana. Relax every part of your body. Try to make your mind blank, don’t strain to do this, just let it happen gradually. Then repeat the message you want to re-affirm in your mind. You need not say it out loud, just “think” aloud, if you know what I mean. After this just give yourself a few more minutes to relax and get up feeling fresh and rejuvenated.

Last word

Do bear in mind that these changes do not come overnight. People have healed themselves, attained stress relief, become friendlier, found success in life and a lot more using the positive thinking theory. Of course, there are as many methods of practicing it, as there are people. But the main point is that you really have to believe in it to actually cultivate the positive thinking attitude.
