The Reality of Obesity
A informative inside view of obesity.
Obesity-abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that presents a risk to health. A crude population measure of obesity is the body mass index (BMI), a person’s weight (in kilograms) divided by the square of his or her height (in meters). A person with a BMI of 30 or more is generally considered obese. A person with a BMI equal to or more than 25 is considered overweight.
What is the real cause, over eating, depression, low self esteem? I think not. There have been many polls and surveys done that have backed up the logics of the known cause of obesity. What was left out was the answer of the actual obese person, before they were brain washed to think they are depressed or have low self esteem leading to over eating.
Well I actually had the pleasure of speaking with a current obese person. A female in her mid twenties with a love for life even I was jealous of. So clearly she wasn’t depressed, and from her way of dress she certainly was not dealing with low self esteem. Beginning she express to me that society makes obesity seem as a disease or/an addiction, but in reality some people are genetically obese, and some choose to be in that form for a career like sumo wrestling and body building. I inquired on why she would suggest that body builders are obese. She replied saying on one of her first doctor visit she was told that she was considered obese because she was 30 0r more pounds over the average weight for her body structure, and it is well known that muscle is made from fat. So most body builders has to be obese technically speaking she said with humor. Even though that’s not a fact in which I can back she did make a very good point.
On into the conversation she informed me that she became obese in her early teens later finding out she had hyper thyroid disease which wasn’t the cause for her state but it did decrease her energy to point where she felt obese. After getting the thyroids in tact and her energy level to normal she found it hard to lose the weight. Stating she tried every weight loss and exercise program available and still no real result. Wrapping up she explained that it wasn’t until she realized that her happiness and health came before trying to look average for an approval from people who are trying to convince her she is suffering from depression because she likes to eat more than others. Then she eagerly said since she have been happy she have lost over 20 pounds and haven’t changed a thing in her life except her train of thought, and she never will change cause she’s happy and to her that’s average, or should be.
So are people really obese because there depressed? Or depressed because there obese? Or is it all a cover up to bury the upsetting reality that society has brainwashed people to be depressed about being different?
