The Turning Points of Life
When you look at the price of your goal in comparison to what you are willing to pay to obtain it and then conclude if the reward is really worth the cost. Your decision to press on to your goal regardless the cost is when we reach a “turning point” in life.
Jesus also had to go through His turning point. The Bible tells us in Hebrews 12:2 how He “endured the cross because of the joy that was set before Him.” Christ focused on what He was “going to” and not on what He was “going through.”
Your love for what you are pursuing must have a greater effect on you than the challenge of the pursuit. If not, then your tolerance level will always be low and you will never have the mental discipline required to be a winner.
H. Ross Perot, the computer billionaire and former presidential candidate said “most people give up just when they’re about to achieve success. They quit on the one yard line. They give up at the last minute of the game one foot from a winning touchdown.”
Napoleon Hill, the great motivational writer said “effort only fully releases its reward after a person refuses to quit.”
Go back and get that exercise equipment out of the garage. Start that business up again. Go back to the gym. Get back in school. Get back on that diet.
You stopped before because you didn’t make it through your turning point. The next time you feel the cost of a goal is more than you are willing to pay start comparing the value to the price.
What are the benefits of reaching your goal? How much is it worth to you? Draw your strength and motivation to press forward from the value of your goal and that will propel you past the challenge of the cost every time.
