The Way We Are

Our outlook on life and how we can function best.

We live by trains of thought. The more extensive our vocabulary, the more specific our thoughts. Trains of thought run on an unending stream of present-moments arriving from our future and moving into our past throughout our lives. Whether we are asleep or awake, however we act or react, we set a progression of events in motion or build on those in progress. More often than not, we are not ready for the moments as they pass through and all we do is react in relation to our outlook and train of thought at such moments.

But, to be able to act positively we need to become naturally positive to advance naturally as each new moment arrives in our present. Planning our actions in advance is not as effective as following an utlook which naturally induces the best action. The eventualities of our actions and reactions, whatever their quality, are no more nor less than mere progressions of events that develop into the good or bad that may someday come back to hurt or reward us.

Whether we act positively or responsibly will depend on our individual level of spiritual excellence which again depends upon the elasticity of our conscience and self-responsibility. All who aspire to an excellence of spirit with a clear conscience will always, unconditionally take full responsibility for all their actions and reactions. Never hiding behind excuses.

The prospect of days and months of the same pattern would be unbearable for an active mind. I know a latheman, soon to retire from over 50 years of building a special bushing for a tractor manufacturer. He has had 50 years of one day’s experience. How different has his life been from the cows in a modern dairy, the hens in a battery? To exercise a mind is to seek change, not remain with the status quo.

An active mind is never dull. We choose from the wide range of topics related to our knowledge and experience to make us happy with ourselves. Entire lives have been spent in experimenting on ideas near our heart. We must each determine whether we have achieved our goals.

Those of us who are not competitive do not compare ourselves with others because we know we are each uniquely different in composition. It is the weak who do compare do not their outlooks but their material possessions, the power they wield, their prestige and position and feel superior or inferior.

There is more in the Universe than we know of and will know even in years to come. We have to be willing to consider the possibility that nature does react even in unwelcome ways. No ideology, political or religious has demonstrated any ability to prevent or withstand nature’s forces. But the seeming vagaries of nature and the inexorable passage of Time cannot affect our independence.

No longer subject to any of the causes of stress and misery. Each new day better than the last, more exciting, more meaningful in humanity, invincible and free to think, to dream, to speak, to act, to care and dare to be one’s natural self. A state of being, attainable through respect for others, a clear conscience and total self-responsibility.

There comes a time in our lives, that inquiring minds need to know who we are, where we came from, whether we are here for a purpose, where we are going when we end our lifetimes on Earth and how best we can function and find happiness while we are here.
We are all born equal with the same equipment and without any weakness, only constrained by the norms that direct the economic and social level we begin our lives with. We acquire our weakness under the tutelage of the adults we grow up with. Their inhibitions, their likes and dislikes, their outlooks and the ideologies or faiths that run them.

However, as soon as we are able to do so, we have an inherent right to choose the patterns of our lives and the direction of our futures, to access the heights of satisfaction or the depths of degradation. That future is ours to determine and whatever transpires, will result from what we do or not do right. Except time over which we have no control and nature’s influences which we may impel but not compel, we are individually free to choose to determine the course and outcome of our lives.

That we cannot, that we are at the mercy of outside forces is a fallacy instilled in us from birth by adults who have been brainwashed into becoming willing victims. WE ARE NOT, REPEAT NOT, WEAK.

Our lives are subject to continuing change. The trick is to ensure that every change is for the better. It is in our hands to direct that and we can make each new day, week, month and year better than the last. When we fail, we lay ourselves open to a lifetime of go-nowhere, achieve nothing minds that are open to debilitating ailments.

Everything we do or fail to do in our present as it fleets by, sets up a progression of events that determine how we are affected by each change and, what each unmindful day will bring. We can direct about 90% of our destiny. he 10% outside our control is our vulnerability to external influences like communicable disease, environmental violence and entrapment in anothers’ difficulties.

Our first measure is to focus our minds and outlooks forward. As far forward as several generations beyond us and NOT LOOK BACK. Never indulging in memories alone, a dangerous preoccupation that can lead to that dreaded disease Alzheimer’s. Reminiscing should never be indulged in alone, never unless in the company of another. To be able to direct our destiny, we need to determine where we want to go.

Unless we already know, we can make a wish and follow through with a day dream, exploring all the pleasurable events that relate to that wish. Taking a week, a month, even longer to day dream, it can bring great dividends. Day dreams are wonderful preoccupations. They allow us to throw our minds forward in any direction and as far as we wish without the dampening effect of negatives from others and their limiting outlooks.
It also allows us to determine desired objectives and when we want to reach for them. Our minds work in trains of thought, through words only limited by our individual vocabulary. It needs a question to trigger a new train of thought. A train of thought that will concentrate the mind into formulating any needed answers. At the time of our death, it is that last thought that goes forward with our departing spirit. Since we all, including plant life, need the Sun’s energy to live and blossom, it is very likely that our departing spirits will join the Sun’s spectrum as a single dimensional point of light, a Sunbeam.

Since our bodies are three dimensional and should our spirits have to contend with an unresolved issue at the point of death, our spirits, the aura may stay in limbo, in an ectoplasmic, two dimensional state until resolved. Readers must make their own conclusions on this theory.

Happiness is a direct result of satisfaction in some achievement or accomplishment where you can also follow your inclinations freely. That is the criteria for our choice of an objective. Once determined, it becomes the focus of our outlook and guides our thoughts and actions to satisfy what we need to achieve. Make it happen.
