The World Around You
This is my view of the world and how it works.
I have witnessed so many cases of stereotyping in my lifetime that sometimes I wish I could go back in time and help Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with his fight against prejudice. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a great man and was assassinated for something he believed in. He was someone who believed in a lot of things and boy, did he ever save America from a lifetime of prejudice. Prejudice can and has affected a lot of people. I always thought that prejudice wasn’t that bad until I met Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in my sixth grade History book. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. has always inspired me to talk about prejudice, being trapped in this world, and how people get made fun of because they are smart or not pretty like all the popular people. I always thought I was an outsider in school, until I got into High School, met a bunch of guys and made a lot of new friends. High School is full of prejudice and non-prejudice.
The world can be a horrible place full of horrible people and things. Stereotyping the world can be a big thing for people who feel like they don’t belong in this world, because they feel like no one wants them in the world. You can be a normal person walking down the street, walking through the halls at your school, a good driver or a bad driver on the street, or you could be all three and people would judge you just by looking at you, by the way you drive, or just because you dress a certain way and they don’t like the way you dress. People will stereotype in all different ways. “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.” Judging a book by it’s cover is like the stereotyping people do in this world.
Stereotyping for example was like the Holocaust, when Hitler killed over six million Jews and about five million Non-Jews. Hitler killed these innocent people because he felt like they were a waste of skin. Hitler felt a million things. For example, he felt that Jews didn’t deserve names, so he gave them numbers, shaved their heads and gave them one meal a day and they had to make it last through breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Hitler murdered any Jew that tried to escape from his camps. Sometimes, he would hang the escapees in front of the entire camp so that the rest of the camp could see what would happen if they tried to escape from his camp. Hitler was a real bad man and he was admired by Germans in Germany.
The world around you can be very dangerous. The real world can scare some people. I’ve stepped into the real world many times and always ran back because the real world can be such a scary place to be. Once I turn eighteen I will have to try and grow up in the real world and it might be hard t first but, trust me it will get easier living in the real world. Walking into the real world is like walking into a world of constructive criticism, being shot down for jobs, and realizing that it’s time to grow up and become an adult. The real world doesn’t always work out for some people and for some it does. Take the real world seriously. The world is no joke, don’t make it a joke.
Lastly, your life is like an unwritten book and every time you move on to something new, you start a whole new chapter in your life, like starting middle school or high school. Even graduating from High School or College. It’s your life and your book, write it the way you want and the way it should be told.
