Thou Shall Not Discriminate
Do you discriminate other human beings because of their physical conditions or because of their race?

A friend of mine named Anthony is an average factory worker in our locality. He and his wife were married for almost ten years but were not fortunate enough to conceive a baby. Anthony never stopped hoping that God will someday give them their much awaited child. His co-workers are actually making fun of him for asking God for a miracle child. But despite their mockery, he was never discouraged.
Finally, last January 2008 he was very happy to inform me that his wife was finally pregnant. When the child was born last October 2008, the baby was diagnosed with Down Syndrome. News about the condition of his child spread everywhere including in his workplace. When he returned to his office for the first time after his paternal leave, Anthony was embarrassed and do not know how to face his co-workers since he knows how crooked-minded they were. He told me that before he entered the factory, he prayed to God and asked Him to give him the strength and wisdom to face his enemies. As expected, his co-workers teased him and jokingly congratulated him by saying “Best wishes Anthony! God finally gave you a child!” and all his co-workers laughed mockingly. According to Anthony, he almost lost his temper and wanted to punch his co-workers’ face. But God gave him the wisdom to answer “Thank you guys, I am so blessed God gave this child to me and not to YOU!”
The story of my friend reminded me that everyone in this planet, regardless of their physical abnormalities, is equal to the eyes of God. Everyone is valuable to Him. So, let us be reminded not to look down on other people and not to discriminate other human beings because of their physical conditions or because of their race. Just like anybody else, we are all humans, we are not God.

I’m glad to know that your friend Anthony and his wife were finally blessed with a child. Since the child was born with special needs, Anthony and his wife have the opportunity to be special parents. Unfortunately, the world is full of petty people who discriminate against those different than themselves. It’s sad, but a fact nonetheless. We are all God’s children. Your article addresses the issue very nicely. I wish the best to your friend and his family.

Part of my work is as an advocate for those with different abilities – so I applaud any articles that generate more awareness.

Very nice, well done. If someone says they don’t discriminate against anyone, they probably don’t know their own self very well.

Discrimination for whatever reason is really hard to justify. You’re exactly right.

What a story. What his coworkers didnt get is that Anthony was blessed for more than any of them. God has entrusted Anthony with a one of his special children. I wish I knew who these people were. Anthony is a far better person than I am. I would have made each of them eat their words off the bottom of my shoe.
Please tell Anthony he and his miracle baby are awesome in my book!

I was so touched with this story. I just hope people will stop discriminating other human beings because of their physical deformities or for their being “special”. You are right, all of us a equal in the eyes of God, regardless of our gender, race and nationality. Great work and very inspiring post. Please don’t stop writing. We need people like you in this world!

Discrimination is always wrong! I wrote a piece about it myself.
God blessed us all with the ability to live together in harmony if we so choose. All we have to do is choose to.

I hope your message will spread all over the world and hit all individuals, all nations, all races with discriminative hearts. It is so sad some people think they are superior to other people. But they tend to forget they are also humans. Who are they to think highly of themselves and lowly of other people! Your article really sparked my emotions! Fantastic post!

We are all chidren of God. We are all equal in His eyes. Nice post my friend. This is a good reminder that we should never think ill of anyone despite of his or her being different.
