Thoughts to Make You Ponder

by Alistair Briggs in Lifestyle Choices, November 4, 2009

Thinking thoughts are what makes us human – or something like that! Here we will take a look at some thoughts that might just make you ponder.

  • It is said that hard work never killed anybody, but why take the chance?
  • If you eat properly and exercise regularly you may live longer but good health is just the slowest possible rate at which you will die.
  • The reason you should always do the right thing is that it will please those who are important to you and astound everyone else.
  • The reason we have to believe in freewill is that we have no choice in the matter!
  • The best way to be wise is to think stupid things but only ever say the opposite.
  • If you always tell the truth you don’t have to worry about remembering the lies.
  • If you ever use the excuse of ambition, it just mean you don’t have the good sense to be lazy.
  • Remember to always use tasteful words, there may come a time when you need to eat them.
  • If a virtue is its own punishment then a vice is its own reward.
  • Experience may lead to good judgement but is made from bad judgement.
  • If you only give presents to others without the expectation of something in return, you will never be disappointed.
  • It is said that change is inevitable – try saying that to a vending machine.
  • Take your time to chose a friend but take longer to get rid of them.
  • If you make those that are near happy, those who are far away will soon come.
  • The best way to make yourself happy is to make someone else happy – trust me it works.
  • For those who don’t believe in luck, if luck didn’t exist how do you explain the success of those we don’t like?
  • Ironically, the only thing that really is certain is the need for doubt.
  • Submission to authority leads to the disappearance of responsibility – it just moves it on to someone else’s shoulders.
  • It is best to be flexible – that way you can’t be bent out of shape.
  • If you throw dirt, you lose ground (both literally and psychologically).
