Top Ten 2009 New Year’s Resolutions for US Soldiers

A top ten list of the top ten New Year’s Resolutions amongst US Soldiers.

United States Soldiers give up everything they have.  They give up their time with their family, they give up friends, they give up the peace of mind, and they give up their family’s peace of mind.  They even give up their lives sometimes.  Soldiers are the bravest people in the world.  Everything they do, they do for their country.  They are the greatest patriots, whenever there is trouble, they are there.  Whenever the USA is under attack, they are there to give up their lives.  While people in the US complain about a missing item from Wendy’s, our Military goes without food for days at a time.  When we complain about not getting enough sleep, our men and women fighting can’t sleep, they have to stay up and fight for our lives.  This is why I have compiled a list of the Top Ten 2009 New Years Resolutions for US Soldiers.

1.  Make it home safely.  While they fight off ambushes, avoid roadside bombs, sniper fire, mortar fire, and protect their fellow buddies, the one thing they really want is to make it home safely.  The next nine items all revolve around making it home safely.

2.  Start a family after finishing their tours.  Most Military Personnel, if married, want this to happen almost as much as they want to survive.  When you aren’t sure how long you have to live, this would likely be at the top of your list.

3.  Spend time making memories.  Whether on a tour and currently serving, or at home with family and friends, making memories is important to those that are in the Military.  Some say that this is because they don’t know how long they are going to live, and some say it is because when they go back on tour, they want something to treasure and look forward to doing again.

4.  Cherish the little things.  This goes along with making memories, number three.  When any small thing happens while on tour, from eating a full meal to getting a cold drink, the little luxuries that we have are like piles of gold to them.  They try to focus on cherishing these things, because they don’t have many luxuries to cherish.
