Using Positive Affirmations to be Happy

Learn how to use positive words and statements to be a happy person.

When things get tough, it is easy to lose heart and become depressed and despondent. It becomes difficult to move forward and take good decisions. At such times, affirmations, positive ones, can have a huge impact on making us feel happy and strong enough to take charge of our lives.

Positive affirmations are uplifting statements that inspire, encourage and motivate. Based on the law of attraction, affirmations work to bring into our lives that which we desire the most.  If we keep repeating negative affirmations, they would come true and the same goes for positive affirmations as well. Therefore, it is important to use positive affirmations and use them to be a happy and content person.

 Find the Right Affirmations

It is important to affirm positive things and not focus on the negatives. If you keep repeating, ‘I am stuck in a rut’, chances are you would always be stuck in that rut. However, if you affirm, ‘I am moving forward and taking charge’, you would find yourself actually, moving ahead and making good decisions. Therefore, it is important to spend some time observing your thoughts and words and seeing what affirmations you need to choose and which ones should you stop, at once.

Some examples of affirmations to be a happy person are -

I am a person filled with joy and happiness.

I radiate joy all around

Happiness is a part of my life and will always be

I see joy in everything that I do

Happy thoughts fill my head and happy actions are my life

I live with happiness and joy within me

 Use Affirmations Consistently

Once you’ve identified the affirmations you need to use to be happy and bring in joy and peace to your life, use them. Write them down and put them in places where you’re bound to see them regularly.  Say them to yourself over and over again, till it becomes a tape in your head. They should be a constant part of your inner dialogue and should replace all the negativity that has crept in.

 Observe Yourself

Once you’ve started affirming happiness and joy for yourself, be extra vigilant and catch any thought or word that affirms the opposite. Look at the brighter side of things, curb griping and complaining and fill your mind with positive thoughts and ideas. Surround yourself with people who think positive and are happy with life. Do things that you enjoy. Ten Simple Ways to be Happy would give you more ideas on this.

 Read Up on Affirmations

There are a lot of books on affirmations. Louise L. Hay has done some amazing work on this and all her books would serve as guides as you start affirming and bringing in happiness in your life. Online, as well, you would find some very good resources which would encourage and motivate you to continue using affirmations to be a happier person.

 Get a Support System

Tell friends and family about your affirmations. Ask them to help you with them. or if you would rather, get online support, you could do that as well on any of the forums of the sites mentioned above. By getting support, you are better able to continue using affirmations and if needed, can use inputs to modify them and get better results.

These are some ways in which you can use these positive, life-affirming statements to become a happier person and enjoy everything that life has to offer – the good, the bad and the ugly. Use affirmations wisely and consistently and experience the changes that take place. Enjoy the experience and make them a part of your life to become a happier and more peaceful person.

This advice is spot on. I took a course and one of the things mentioned was that our thoughts actually can change brain chemistry. What we think or believe now sets the stage for how we feel later. This is why it is so important to put affirming thoughts into our brains. Our brains are like computers and respond to how we program them.

This is so powerful that people who suffer depression can also help themselves by changing their thoughts and their beliefs.
