Vegetarian – Is It the Right Choice?

Many people these days have became vegetarians, but is it really the right thing to do?

I always see vegetarian ads on buses and subways. One of my friend is a vegetarian, and so is A LOT of people in this world. Sure if helps all the farm animals and free them from being eaten, but there are some bad thing from being vegetarian.

The Nutrient

There are some important nutrients in meat that are hard to get in other foods. There is the most common one, protein. They builds your muscle, and are found most abundantly in meat. Meat also have iron, which is very important for a human to live. They transfers oxygen all over your body. They also help you stay awake and alert, and help your body make enough energy. There is also many other nutrients here and there that are good for you.

The Order of Nature

It is the order of nature for some organisms to eat other organisms, and some organisms to be eaten. It is natural for humans to eat other animals. No one cares that all the plants that are eaten each day. Why? Because people just don’t see plants as living things. Everyday,  people kill each other in wars, murders, riots, and accidents. And people just couldn’t care less about that, and just throws it over their shoulders, but they go all out on the farm animals? I find that sad. Plus, the farm animals are born to be eaten. If they don’t get eaten, they probably will never be born. The whole reason they were ever living on this Earth is that they can be eaten. If you think about it, shouldn’t they be happy we ever gave life to them? Humans just have a strange perception that carnivores are evil, and herbivores are good. I really don’t get why. That shows nothing but their ignorance of ecology. There must be the equilibrium between specie for the Earth to survive. So why must we go against our nature to to go against nature?

But On The Other Hand…

But vegetarians do have a point. The animals are being put through terrible treatment before coming onto our dinner plates. They are put in dirty crowded place with no sun, and was fed chemicals to make them grow. They get branded and suffer great pain before dying. That is the main (and the only) reason to become vegetarian.

So What Should We Do?

Even though in some places that treatment is bad, there definitely is farms or plants that have at leas decent treatment. Go search online to see which meat brand buys meat from those places, and stick with that brand. Also ask your local supermarket produce department where they get their meat from. In my opinion, that is a better approach than becoming vegetarian. There are wrapping where it is label “organic meat”. That means the animals where not fed with growth hormones or chemicals. There is also labellings that tells you whether they were exercised and get sunlight, etc. Look for those, and and you’ll be helping the animal. But a more extreme approach is writing to government official, like the governor of your state, or if you want to go big, the president, telling them it increase the living standard for farm animals, but increasing inspection standards. Hey, you never know, they might say yes. Oh yes, and don’t go to McDonalds.

In Conclusion

I’m saying vegetarian is a bad thing. I am just showing the other side of what all vegetarian says. It is certainly one’s choice of whether become a vegetarian or not, and if you’re a vegetarian, I’m not saying that you’re doing a bad thing. Certainly, vegetarianism can save many animals, but no need to break nature’s rule and ruin yourself for that. If you want to disagree, fine. If you agree, that’s good too.

I will not agree or disagree, all I have to say is, I make it a point to balance my diet with vegetables and meat, that’s alright with me already.
