What Keeps You Going?

When times are challenging it is often the smallest things that inspire us, rekindle hope and give us the push we need to pick ourselves up and carry on.

One daily reminder for me is such an everyday common place occurrence that ordinarily no one would look twice at. If I look outside my bathroom window in a crevice high up on the wall opposite is a tiny plant. I say plant, as I really do hate to use the word weed as to me all plants are precious and special, and I feel that calling a beautiful flower a weed is such a derogatory term.

Now this little plant has survived there all year long. It has been scorched by the hot sun, clung on through some really wild storms, hailstorms, heavy snow and driving rain. Still it manages to go on producing flowers. So whenever I am having a challenging day I stand and look out at that little plant and think that if you can survive all that life has thrown at you and still smile then  I too can get through my current situation.

What inspires you?

I agree – it’s the little things that make every day afresh. Skyscapes, landscapes, spotting birds and animals on the drive to and from work always lift my spirits.

BTW – I heard this a long long time ago and have always believed in it – a “weed” is simply a flower growing in a place that nobody wants it in.

Nature always renews me. I love walks in the park and seeing the changes of the seasons. I would love your little flower.

Short but full of meaning. I had been jobless for months but you give me strenght to hang on. Yup if a weed could persist no matter how we cut it, if a blade of grass could push itself through hard concrete why couldn’t I? Thanks for inspiring others.
