An Attempt at Writing the Survival Guide for Modern Man

I did not do my daily news review.  The speed of life did not allow me to today.  However, I did see the news conference of the South Carolina governor.  The governor was explaining were he has been in the last seven days.  It appears that for the last five years this governor has been having an adulterous affair.  In the news conference, the governor explained he was with his lover.  This news event content will lend it self well to my statements here.

First, let me predict the future.  Tomorrow on the Laura Ingraham conservative talk radio show Ms. Ingraham will conduct another public stoning. I listen to her radio show more than I want to and I have witnessed more than one tirade of personal attacks leveled at people who have violated so-called social norms. I am sure she will insult this governor, yell, “this is ridiculous”, and then try to soften the attack by trying to deliver some kind of sophisticated understanding of the contributions to people’s personalities and the price of personal tragedies.

My concern is on if this person can be entrusted with the responsibilities of the office of the governor of South Carolina.  His actions show a person who can very easily let his personal troubles distract him from his duties.  In the competition between his responsibilities to the people and his desires, his desires won.  In my opinion, this means this governor is unfit to serve.

Now, allow me to say something about the concept about truth.  As I was watching fox news commentators on this news conference, one fox news personality was angrily commenting on how many lies this governor had told.  The reality is that every one lies.  One of my greatest accusations against Obama is that he is a liar.

 In addition, I no longer consider being truthful as criteria for public service or as a measure of the quality of a man. People elect governors, mayors, and presidents to be good business managers.  In my opinion, this means they need to know how to count and manage workers.

Yes, I do wish we lived in the world of adherence to noble concepts like honesty.  However, the reality is we live in a world of severe moral decay.  As I listen to Ms. Ingraham attack on this governor tomorrow, I will be commenting to me, “who appointed her moral authority of the world?”
