Five Things About Women That Men Really Need to Know
The life of a single person can be rather confusing and admittedly woman can sometimes be a little vague in telling guys how we really feel. Here are five tips for men which should dispel some of the confusion they experience when dealing with women.
I am a single woman living in a big city. I spend a lot of time interacting with men in my work life and socially. Having experienced many awkward moments with members of the opposite sex, I hope that the following tips serve as a good guide to men on what women really mean and want.
-
Just because a woman is friendly does not mean that she fancies you
Why is it men assume that a woman fancies them if she get on well with them? There is a big difference between flirting and being friendly. When a woman is flirting, you will know about it. If she is asking about work, sports or discussing your weekend with your family, it isn’t flirting. Flirting is asking leading questions, batting the eyelids or making ambiguous, slightly naughty statements. Know the difference and you’ll avoid having your advances turned down.
-
Just because a woman flirts does not mean she will spend the night
After catching a girl’s eye in the bar and flirting, how many of you men turn to your mates and go “I’m going to get lucky tonight.”? Wrong. Let me reiterate, girls just want to have fun. Flirting is fun. Women like to feel special and flirting with a hot guy does this for them. Sometimes you may strike it lucky but don’t expect it all the time. She will let you know if she is keen. So instead instantly expecting a night of passion from the minute you buy her a drink, enjoy the flirting and company. Who knows, you may be pleasantly surprised.
-
We don’t want to spend the rest of our life with you after one date
A date is just a date. Why does a man assume that if a woman is looking for a serious commitment when she agrees to go out on a date with him? Maybe in the 1950’s women were on the look out for potential husband material, but this is the twenty-first century. Girls just want to have fun and meet new people. If the right guy comes along – great, but seriously when you go out a couple of times don’t stress about it. She is not necessarily after a husband, a house and babies. Just enjoy your time together.
-
Women are not possessions or trophies
Why is it that men always show off their new girlfriends to their mates like a trophy, as if they have won something? This is one of my pet hates. Women are not possessions, or accolades denoting your achievement. A woman is with you because she likes you as a person. When you start strutting around like the cat that got the cream, it is a big turn off. Women do not like to be treated as objects, so if you want to keep her remember to treat her with respect and as you would a beloved family member.
-
When it is over, it is over, Stop trying to win us back
Why can’t men handle rejection? Sometimes relationships end. There doesn’t need to be a dramatic event that causes it, sometimes a woman just loses the attraction she once had for you. Let it go. Don’t bombard her with phone calls, text messages and email – she is not coming back to you. Move on with your life and don’t aggravate an already painful situation.
So men, my final word of advice is treat women with respect. Listen to them and read the signs carefully. If the woman you are interested in likes you, she will let you know. If you do end up together, treat her as a partner and as a friend. If it doesn’t last, it wasn’t meant to be. Just let it go. Good luck and happy dating.

Ok-I get the fact that when its over – its over, and that she will let you know if she’s ever interested again. But-what if she won’t stop calling afterwards, and keeps trying very hard to keep you as one of her best friends? This is very confusing. When I try to exit the picture, she says I’m not a very good friend.

I say leave her alone she is the one who initiated the break up all, you still wanted to be her as your girlfriend not your best buddy. How will you feel when she introduces you to her next boyfriend…..the pain is unimaginable.

If she is no longer interested in a relationship why should we be ? We got our pride too. Let her go and find yourself a new girl friend. There are plenty of fish in the sea.

my babies mommy keeps coming back to me,this is #4,she had been married for 2-1/2yrs has another baby & now that daddy has moved out & she keeps calling & coming on to me & telling me she loves me & wants to be with me but still has this man come over to her crib to watch tv. should i be concerned? Oh, she has not filed for the divorce yet cuz she says she doesn’t have the money yet. should i back off & tell her get your divorce & then maybe we can make it work, the thing is though, i am in love with her, thats what makes this so confusing….

1. I agree, but sometimes it’s difficult to tell the difference between flirting and discussing commonalities. Comes with experience.
2. A man’s sense of fun is more physical than a woman’s. Where just flirting may satisfy a woman’s appetite for fun, men often need more and don’t enjoy flirting as much as their counterparts.
3. Agreed.
4. It’s kind of ingrained in our society, but quite a few men are capable of ignoring this predisposition.
5. Here’s a sore point of mine. In high school, I was in a relationship with this one girl. She wasn’t what i considered long-term relationship material, and after awhile i kind of just ignored her. She got angry and tried contacting me, and intercepted me in the hallways and any feeling i had for her quickly vanished in annoyance. Couldn’t figure out why she was so unreasonable. Three years later i was in another relationship. This girl I really liked, and things were going great until i had a 4 month work trip to make. At first we stayed in touch online, and nothing seemed to change. Then she started spending less time with me, when i asked her what was up, she assured me she loved me, and nothing was going on. Through a friend I found out she was cheating on me. When I confronted her about this she started ignoring me, say I was being unreasonable. What goes around comes around, huh? I was angry and bitter just like the other girl. It is unfair to look down on someone for failing to stand up to rejection until you’ve experienced it yourself at a deep level. And often the signs are not clear. There is nothing more painful than finding out the one you love no longer returns the feeling. And give me a break. It’s not hard on the one doing the breaking up when compared to the one getting broken up with. Is committment more easily broken with woman then with men?
