How to Define a Good Male
What to look for in the search of your perfect man.
The Science Blog reported yesterday that Scientists now have developed a mathematical model of the mating game to help explain why courtship is often prolonged. The study they refer to shows that extended courtship enables the male to signal his suitability to a female and helps the female to screen out the male if he shows to be unsuitable as a mate.
In this research they analyzed how males and females behave strategically towards each other in the mating game.
The study looks for evolutionarily stable equilibrium behaviors, where the two genders are acting against the behavior of the other.
The results of this study were that the female acquire more information about the male by delaying the mating process. If the male is willing to court for a long time, this is a sign that he probably is a good male. The female is thereby able to reduce the chances of mating with a bad male.
By taking part in this long lasting courtship the chances for mating increase, and that is the price to be paid for by the male. By taking this approach to dating and if succeeding, it will prove to be a harmonious match of the two. These results can also justify the belief that women often are best off if they don’t sleep with a man on the first date.
As a conclusion, Dr Peter Sozou says: “From a female’s point of view, males are not all equal. A female would like to mate with a good male, but cannot tell a male’s type from his appearance alone.. Bad males give up at some random time if the female has not by then mated with them, but good males are more persistent and do not give up.”

Interesting… who knew that this well-observed phenomenon was actually supported by scientific research?

This explains why whirlwind romances don’t usually work. This is great information.

A Man
by Tate Morgan, Feb 9, 2009
My idea of a man.
On humble fare though he may dine.
Soft light of a candles golden flame.
Walk’s with a sense of purpose and time.
Upon his soul is there no claim.
A man treads lite on honest poverty.
No coward nor gentleman’s slave.
Give’s of his love to the poor of heart.
Stands fast in the face of the grave.
Bearing for her life’s burdens.
Sooths the children of their tears.
Is the rock all others break upon.
Leaves fond memory of his years.
He owns the value of free will.
As honesty will rule his heart.
Knows pride that comes of forgivness.
To the fallen grants a new start.
Give the fools their silk and wine.
The dishonest pretence of gentry
Only welcome from a good mans door.
Can allow a monarchs entry!
He knows this as his fellows do.
From every field and station.
One need not be a worshiped Lord.
To be master of God’s creation!
