Tips on How a Man Can Improve His Marriage or Relationship

This article was written with the average married man in mind, if there is such a thing. It is designed to inspire you to take action to make your marriage more satisfying and rewarding for both you and your spouse.

There are many things a man can do to improve the quality of his marriage.  All he has to do is look around him and look at his wife or life partner as a person; they are an individual and should be treated as such.  Try to respect the fact that they may have different opinions and views than you do.  Not everyone has to think the same way you do.

Positive communication is an important key to any good relationship and should be done in a positive manner.  Yelling is a form of communication but it will do nothing to improve your relationship and in fact can actually do it considerable harm.  Positive communication is saying good things to your spouse; they can be simple things like dinner was good; thanks for cooking it, or I really like that shirt on you.  Positive communication can be as simple as a warm hug and a gentle back rub.  There are many different forms of positive communication and if a man really wants to improve his marriage or relationship he will look for ways to communicate positively.

Find activities you both enjoy and do them together.  You may love hunting and sports but your spouse may hate them and there is nothing wrong with that.  Go ahead get your buck, watch the big game, but make sure you look for and find activities your spouse enjoys and do those too.  Quality bonding time is essential for a good marriage or relationship.

Fall and winter is a big time of the year for football fans, and a vast majority of the fans are men.  Many jokes, articles, and controversy has been created by and for the infamous football widow.  If a man wants to improve his marriage or relationship it is important to bring this topic up.

If you are die-hard football fan and your spouse or life partner is not you can get separate televisions in separate rooms of the house like the living and bedroom which is actually quite common in today’s modern relationships.  You can suggest your spouse go out for the afternoon shopping or to lunch with a friend or family member.  You can pick the games that are most important to you and skip the rest should the need arise.   Another words if the Cowboys and the Steelers are not your favorite teams and your spouse wants you to attend an a social event, give up the game and go to the event with your spouse.  Next weekend may be teams your like better and if you took them out last weekend you should be entitled to watch that game.  Even though your spouse may not like football they may enjoy the super bowl party so if you attend one make sure you bring them.
